skycat 0 #27 October 14, 2003 *pout* I sooo love climbing outside, but it was way to windy today, so we opted for the gym instead. So not even close to the same. I like having to figure the total puzzle out, not having to go ok, does that hold have orange tape or red. Outside, if it's there use it, if there is nothing smear...... Oh well hopefully we will have nice weather Sunday so we can go hit the cliffs.Fly it like you stole it!

Viking 0 #30 October 20, 2003 i just got back from Yosemite. I hiked quit a bit to take some pictures. One of those hikes being the 1.5mile climb up to Vernal Falls. almost all of it was a very steep grade and last part of it was a set of tall spaced stairs. My calfs and my shins are throbbing. but it was soooo worth it!!I swear you must have footprints on the back of your helmet - chicagoskydiver My God has a bigger dick than your god -George Carlin

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #34 October 20, 2003 Wow JT! I can't believe that I never saw this thread. I can't wait to climb with you and Kelli. (Hooksnswoop, too, right? He is surely a great climber.) Thank you for posting. I love the pics! Believe it or not, I have ZERO climbing pics of myself. (At least none that I know of! LOL!) A friend once even asked if he could have his photographer friend take some of me on some new routes that he had set up at Malibu Creek and send them in to a climbing mag with an article, but I was too shy (I'm so dumb!) to let anyone take my pics. I am beginning to break free of my fear of the camera, so I would gladly let you take pics of me climbing, JT. Kelli, you go girl! You are such a natural with your little body. You and I should lead and the guys follow! I haven't climbed in soo long, but a few months ago, a group of us that never climb anymore , climbed at J. Tree and jumped the next day. I both lead (easier climbs) and cleaned (including a fun 5.10b/c? maybe less). Argh...damnit! I could have lead that one as it was less taxing than I thought. (I never hung.) I hadn't climbed in years, though, so I was expecting it to be physically worse. I was so pissed the day after I stopped toproping a 5.11 (Flail/hang city! Even the 5.10s kick my bum when I am out of shape!). I was intending to jump heavily the next day and didn't want to be sore, but I never got sore at all. I should have tried harder...I didn't push myself enough! If I begin to climb again, I want to eventually try an AID climb (with an experienced partner) in Yosemite. I have no experience, though. It would surely be a challenge. Right now, I am not climbing, so I lack the upper body strength for the overhanging stuff. The nice thing about climbing is that you do not forget technique. We should put together a huge climbing trip with all the DZ.commers that climb or want to learn to climb (after Eloy?). The only problem is gear. I have always used other people's gear. I only own my harness, carabiner, chalk bag and climbing shoes. (I just sold an extra tiny, XS nicely padded harness on e-bay, but I would have given it to Kelli if I had thought about it. DARN!!!) Yet, I should still be able to borrow any gear that my BF and maybe other friends have. Perhaps, others have much more climbing gear, as well. Well, keep the pics coming, fellow climbers. You all truly ROCK!
LouDiamond 1 #35 October 20, 2003 QuoteWe should put together a huge climbing trip with all the DZ.commers that climb or want to learn to climb I have enough gear to make a pack mule scream uncle. If there are enough interested people I would be up for a DZ.com climbing boogie"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

skycat 0 #37 October 21, 2003 Both Derek and I would definately be up for this. We have rope, quickdraws, and stuff for the anchors if anything specially is needed we can make it (gotta love having a rigger around.) Since at the moment we only sport climb we don't have any protection type gear although that might change by the time we do this. Also, I have an extra pair of shoes that should fit a woman who wears a 6 or 6.5. Yes and I'm a shoe and backpack whore and proud of it. Fly it like you stole it! Kelli, Derek, Lou, Rosa, Arthur... My BF surfs mostly, but he used to climb hard and has tons of gear of all kind. (Btw, he may be making his first jump soon...) Among LouD, Hooksnswoop/Skycat and my guy's gear along we could be fine. I also have an extra pair of climbing shoes, Kelli. The bad news is that my two shoe sizes are for women's shoe size 4.5 or 5... I own 2 pair of Five Ten Diamonds, which are perfect, as I have very small AND narrow feet with high arches. (Do they still make the Diamond? See pic attached) I have seen that they have the Sapphire, which seems similar. Anyway, LouD. and fellow climbers, pick a place and date! Climbing shoes are far too expensive to buy for a first timer. Besides, you would have to try on the shoes youself to see what suits you, as each shoe is cut differently and has different characteristics that it favors.
