Ever since, Gee, I guess the 1950's, the importance of NYC has been glamourized in movies. EVERYONE wantsto destroy it. Giant lizards came from across the world to destroy it. Major earthquakes Hit NYC and eventually the rest of the world is effected. Spiderman, lives there. Batman Lives there (under the ALIAS name Gotham) In the real world- The terrorists have been aiming for the city for at least 13 years. 1993 was the first WTC bombing. 9/11 was an attempt to cripple the economy as well as the will of Americans. it's the home of the ESB tallest bldg in 1932. was the home of twin towers (1977ish) Is the home of wall street. is the home of the Statue of liberty and has MANY high-rise bldgs. After the last crash I can understand why the news had the knee-jerk reaction. I mean What an opportunity for a reported to make a living to be the first one to report on this type of event. Nowaday, they don't even have to have the information before they get on the TV and start telling you everything and nothing that they know. I don't know of any other cities that had a plane crash into a bldg. 1945 Cessna crashed into ESB 2001 WTC #1 & #2 2006 this incident. I'm sure there were other events of this sort and to validate your point, I don't know any of them. but this is why they report on NYC place crashes. There are plenty of other events that happen there that do not make world/country wide news. but as far as I know this is unique to NYC. Most of them outside of NYC. The point wasn't this single story, its just that when *anything* happens in NYC, its reported by the major news organizations. Remember the HUGE power outage that lasted more then several days in St. Louis this year? Probably not, since they were scantly reported on by the national news media.
