Apparently when sports are on the tube. A drop in the number of men going to the emergency room during sports broadcasts on TV is followed by a surge afterward, reports an ER doctor who reviewed case numbers over three years at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore***As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into. Lindercles 0 #2 October 12, 2006 Ok, so the facts are 1. fewer men come into the ER during a game and 2. more men come into the ER after a game. And the doctor interpreted this to mean that just as many accidents are happening during the game, but men are just waiting until afterwards to go to the ER. But equally as likely, if not more so, is the possibility that there are actually fewer accidents during a game, because men are sitting on the couch watching, and not engaged in physical activity. The after them game they go on a drunken celebratory/commiseratory rampage and hurt themselves and go to the ER.

Very good point - standing in a bar drinking in front of the TV vs running through the streets drunk - I know which of those more often injures meDo you want to have an ideagasm? I remember an incident last year ago where a father got so pissed at his son for asking him if he could take the car, got his gun and aimed it nearly point blank at the son's head. The son flinched at the last second, saving his life (BLAM!) got a graze mark on his neck and a punctured eardrum. What set his dad off? Alabama had just lost a game in overtime to LSU, I think... that and he was drunk as a skunk. Geez...
