Trip to Greece

Recommended Posts

I just won a trip to Greece!!! I'm so excited that I needed to share.

Unfortunately, it's the flight only...and I'm broke.

I know skydivers are great people, does anyone here know a dropzone over there that could give me a place to sleep (and of course a place to jump :)
Thanks everyone, you're always so helpful.

I actually have to travel before the end of the year, so i'm on a pretty tight timeline.

I was thinking of going for the first week of december. What is the weather like over there, does it get very cold?

I'd check the weather.com. I'm sure they know better than I do. In the summer (I was there in August) it was absolutely beautiful, but now it's winter. It's meditaranean, so I would expect it to be like the Caribbean, really nice.

but once again, weather.com should probably be able to tell you better.

Googled "Greece on a budget" and found this:

There's probably a "Let's Go" guidebook for Greece - maybe your local library has it.

Tent? Who needs a tent? I spent a bit of time in the Cyclades a while back, and on a small island called Anafi (just west of Santorini), I slept on the beach for a couple nights. Just dig a hole, build a fire, put rocks in the fire for a couple hours, then put the rocks in the hole and cover with sand. Bam, instant warm bed.

BTW, to answer your question about weather, Greece gets pretty fucking cold in the winter.

I'll be in Greece at the end of this week going to santorini, athens, and mykonos I check prices out there if ya want.

My trip is to Athens, so prices in that area would be great. I'd like to spend as little as possible, while doing as much as possible. I suspect that will end up being ALOT of walking. (I hope the DZ isn't very far)

I have, and if you ever get a chance, do it. That is one of the most awesome places I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. But be careful of local bus drivers on mountain passes (no shit, there I was). Also, the locals are really nice and if you're not careful the local barmen will fill you full of raki and regale you with stories of the war. ;)
