skybeergodd 0 #1 October 16, 2006 I finally have the answer to the question about what a "home DZ" is. It took me awhile to come up with an answer that people could easily understand. I have known where my home DZ is for years and years but could never explain how or why it is my home adequately. I finally have an easy answer as to what exactly makes a Home DZ. My home DZ has always been Quantum leap Skydiving. We recently experienced an Otter crash and our DZO and Many friends were killed. Our DZ has been closed and it's future is still uncertain. Just today one of our friends and pilots got his Steerman out and offered free rides. I put the e-mail out and the turn out was incredible. We kept that Steerman in the air ALL day long. Just a whole family of homeless skydivers got together, opened our hanger door(just to make it feel like home) and played in the air all day long without jumping. It was pretty amazing because it felt like a normal day at the DZ and we all just had a blast and no one really noticed that we weren't jumping. It just felt so normal to be together and in an airplane that actually jumping was a secondary thought. That is the BEST definition of a HOME DZ that I can even think of or even hope for. Ragnarok 0 #3 October 16, 2006 Quantum Leap is home to me. Work kept me from coming out, though - I wish I could have been there. I aterted with AFF there last year in July and honestly felt like I was 're-born'. It always felt like family at Quantum. Thanks for the post, Kelly._________________________________________ Twin Otter N203-Echo,29 July 2006 Cessna P206 N2537X, 19 April 2008 Blue Skies Forever
wes. 0 #4 October 16, 2006 my home DZ has got to be dunkeswell even though i live half way across the world from it but i grew up on that dz seeing the highs and lows from when we had 2 planes and CRW world records were being set to lows after one of our planes went down taking with it 4 dearly missed skydivers it will always be home for reasons i cant even begin to explain but there was something about it that just pulled me towards it even if i had had no intention of jumping and for the first 16 years of my life before i was old enough to jump i would be up the every weekend just watching in awe at the amazing feat which is skydivingFalling from the top floor your lungs fill like parachutes
