ceandries 0 #1 March 28, 2007 I am fairly new to skydiving (1 jump from A liscense) and I am looking to buy a main. I came across a Tomcat 170 but I cant find any info or reviews on this canopy, and apparently Air Time Designs isn't around anymore. If anyone knows anything about it, your help would be greatly appreciated

hookitt 1 #3 March 28, 2007 Pass on the Tom Cat. It wasn't ready for the general public in my opinion. Not very many were produced and some were not very stable. I demoed a couple sizes when they came on the market and felt like a test jumper the entire time. A jumper who was in Hollister for a while showed me video of his collapsing at another DZ. He pounded in hard and was out commision for months. Air Time was pretty creative when it came to parachutes. They were often different from one canopy to the next canopy even if it was the same model. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... JerryBaumchen 1,451 #4 March 28, 2007 The last time I checked with Tony (a few years ago) on one of his canopy products, I got zero response. I believe that he is no longer interested in them. Jerry

A better resource might be Brian Germain. IIRC, he designed the canopies Airtime built. I could be wrong though.
riggerrob 643 #6 February 21, 2008 Tony Uragallo (sp?) designed the first few Air Time canopies. Then Brian Germain took over the design side, building Jedi, etc. Eventually Brian moved on to start Big Air Sports, after Tony lost interest in canopy manufacture. After all these years, Tony Uragallo (sp?) is still in the business of making jumpsuits. LIke the other poster said, Ait Time Designs has lost interest in supporting their old canopies. You might be able to get a lie set off Sally Hathaway - in Florida. The last time I spoke with Brian Germain, he said that an old Jonathan was not worth re-lining.
