freeflir29 0 #28 September 23, 2006 QuoteEven Better.. Costa Rica. Make it in a month I am on vacation and I am THERE!!!! Yep............Vegas sucks. I went there 4 times in 2004. I was EXTREMELY unimpressed. The best thing I did was go skydiving with JT. Even that wasn't so great. 25 minute ride to 9500 Ft in a 206. One jump was PLENTY!!!! SkyDekker 1,465 #33 October 2, 2006 see, I love going to Vegas. But then I don't gamble a lot and like the amazing restaurants and the amazing night life. But then, I bring my wallet and just pay for things....
TrophyHusband 0 #34 October 18, 2006 i got back from vegas last night and had a great time, but i spent most of my time playing hold'em at green valley ranch. the drinks were free, strong, and often. i loved to play early in the day when the tables were mostly full of bitter old locals. it was as much funn watching these peole get pissed off when they lost as it was winning the money. i've never understood why people go to the lowest limit tables and then bitch that they can't win because other people "don't know how to fucking play". i've also seen this a lot at backjack too. since i play low limit, i didn't win a lot of money, but i did win and had a great time doing it. next time maybe i'll spend more time on the strip. racer42 0 #35 October 18, 2006 Yes indeed, Mr Lansky and Mr Seigel knew how take care of the customer. Eventually Mr. Lansky had to take care of Mr Seigel, but hey business is business. I swear to God my Uncle Frank had nothing to do with that. He was a legitimate business man, until of course Mr. Gambino took care of my uncle Frank.L.A.S.T. #24 Co-Founder Biscuit Brothers Freefly Team Electric Toaster #3 Co-Founder Team Non Sequitor Co-Founder Team Happy Sock

Douva 0 #37 October 18, 2006 Quote[RANT] Vegas was sooooo much better when the Mob still ran it. Now that corporate america runs it, You really get screwed... And no sign of a reach around. It used to be that you went to Vegas knowing you really were not going to win.. But thats ok because they treated you great from the time you walked in till the time you left. They would feed you like a king, Keep the drinks coming, treat you with respect.. all as long as you kept gambling. When you left, Your wallet was a little Lighter but you were paying for entertainment. It was worth it. $2.99 Prime Rib dinners were every where, The Drinks were strong, The dealers were friendly. The Mob knew how keep you coming back. Things are now so very different there. Meals are ridiculously over priced. I was there for 5 days and never spent less than $50 for Dinner for just me and these were not even the nicer restaurants. The drinks were watered down, Trying to find a cocktail waitress was next to impossible. $5 and $10 tables??? Forget it. No where to be found.. And this wasn’t even one of the nicer Casinos.. This was the Flamingo. While I am Far from a Whale, but I am a pretty serious gambler that put alot of money in play. At one point I was at a Craps table.. Down about $600 in the past 20 minutes.. Still had another $1K in front of me.. I would have between $300 and $500 in play on any given roll.. And I couldnt even get the House to Comp a Pack of Smokes... Noooo they wanted $10 for Ciggs. I order a Drink... RedBull and Vodka.. "We can Comp the Vodka, But you have to pay for the red-Bull sir" ($5 for a Red Bull BTW) This was a $25 Craps Table. I look down and I have 4 Points with MAX Odds across the board... And have been playing this way for quite a while. I call for the pitt boss.. "Corporate policy" is all he can say. The Craps Tables??? (My true weakness...) Now are 3/4/5x MAX Odds. WTF??? Used to be 10X and 20X Tables were everywhere. (Casino Royal does still 100x Odds I found out later) Black Jack?? Only Single deck every where. I hate single deck. Much bigger house edge because BJ only pays 6 to 5. ON Monday Morning for a couple of hours.. They did open a $15 Table.. Lowest Limit I saw there all week. And now for one thing I just could not believe.. The thing that finally sent me over the edge... $4 fee to use the ATM in a casino. WTF??? Used to be if you had $20 under your mattress at home... A friendly Pitt Boss would help you figure out a way to get to it if you were going to put it in play.. Now they are Charging you to get your Money so you can give it to them?? Too Much. Bring back the Mob!!! They ran Vegas sooooo much better. [/RANT] I went to Vegas for a convention last May. After a couple of hours in that hell hole, I came up with a solution--The powers that be need to institute a coat and tie dress code. The problem, as you hinted at, is that the city has lost its class. Vegas used to be where well dressed connoisseurs of quality entertainment went to eat good food, drink fine liquor, drop some coin at the tables, and rub elbows with the Rat Pack. Now it's where people who don't want to drive all the way to Disneyland go to walk around in tank-tops and flip-flops, eat overpriced slop, drink watered down cocktails, drop coins after coin into slot machines, and get rubbed on by girls in the champagne room. I theorize that if you take the tank-tops and flip-flops out of the equation, the rest of the city will follow suit. The problem is that the casino owners, in their zealous efforts to attract more guests and contend with increasing competition, made too many concessions to Mr. and Mrs. Middle America. And once the crowd change, the service had to change to keep up. Take back the concessions, and you bring back the service. This last year at the convention, I stayed in a room that cost $75/night. It was miserable. Next year I'm staying at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. It's a little more expensive--okay, a lot more expensive--But I don't care. Mandalay Bay's standards are higher, so the riffraff passes it by and keeps moving down The Strip until they find a place with a karaoke stage and an all-night falafel bar.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree. I have bachelor's in kicking ass and taking names.
