McDuck 0 #1 October 20, 2006 Don't get me wrong, I don't mind Heath Ledger, but is he the absolute best choice for the Joker in the new Batman movie? I thought the new polish and edge they put on what had rapidly become a joke of a franchise was a step in the right direction if the Batman series was to remain alive as anything other than a repository for over-the-top performances by the same tired old actors. But is Heath the best choice for a character like the Joker that can essentially make or break this reborn franchise as it tries to forge its way back into the good graces of the masses? I suppose we'll have to wait and see if he can pull off that role without sending the movie into a cheeseball tailspin.Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school. Squeak 17 #2 October 20, 2006 I would think Gary Oldman would make for a better Joker. Heath could mayber pull off the Ridler (if the Ridler didn't mind, sorry had to put that in before some other twat did))You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
Peej 0 #3 October 20, 2006 Ok i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that for a long time i thought HL was nothing more than another heart throb teen actor but i gained a lot of respect for his talent when i saw hi as Skip Engblom in The Lords of Dogtown. I say give him the benefit of the doubt, just tell him not to screw up a good thing! Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky
McDuck 0 #4 October 20, 2006 Lords of dogtown is one that I've been wanting to see for a while now, so maybe it's time to get some perspective on the scope of HL's talent. I just don't want to see what has been a rather tough reforging of the Batman franchise go the way of the craptacular days of three or four cartoonish and over the top big stars all dividing the focus to the point where there was no point in watching each of the movies straight through from beginning to end in one sitting. I think some excellent ground was gained with the rebirth of this story, and I don't want to see it flounder like the old franchise did.Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school. Peej 0 #5 October 20, 2006 Agreed! Do yourself a favour though, watch Dogtown and Z boys after you watch The Lords, the combination of the doccie style film and the hollywood version are really neat. Plus you'll get to see the real Skip E and HL's version. Advertisio Rodriguez / Sky

DavidST 0 #8 October 20, 2006 No one will ever play the joker better then Jack did.As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.
McDuck 0 #9 October 20, 2006 See, I think it was a bit over the top and cartoonish. I suppose it will be good to get some perspective on the character through HL's version of it, as Jack's is the only one we've been privy to for quite a long time. There's potential in this reborn franchise. I just don't want to see it squandered in a ploy to put butts in seats.Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school. DavidST 0 #10 October 20, 2006 See i would agree if it was anybody but jack. He is always over the top but it work really well.As a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.
AggieDave 6 #11 October 20, 2006 He's a good actor. I think he might be able to pull off the once mentally stable person who suffered greatly from the Scarecrow's gas and it perminantly inbalanced him. Show the joker as he truely is. Jack did a pretty good job of it, but he played the part of someone wanting revenge that was a bit off kilter, but fairly normal. Hopefully Ledger can pull off the truely dark personality and pure mental illness that the Joker character really has.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." McDuck 0 #12 October 20, 2006 Holy crap! You're right, Dave! The entire premise behind the creation of the Joker has changed, and that lends itself to an all new interpretation of the role! I now have hope that HL can pull it off. I mean, he's bound to be tormented by "The Brothers Grimm" at the very least. I can't believe I missed that. Thanks Dave.Kevin - Sonic Beef #5 - OrFun #28 "I never take myself too seriously, 'cuz everybody know fat birds don't fly." - FLC Online communities: proof that people never mature much past high school.
