Payback's a Mother F-er...

Recommended Posts

There are few times in a parents life when you get a chance to pay back your kid for all the rotten things they did to you over the years. Mine arrived in the mail today.

See, my kid is in the middle of the hiring process for the Sheriff's department in the county he lives in. He's already gotten a provisional job offer, assuming that he passes the medical and the background. As part of the background investigation, the department contacted me to provide a reference.

I could be sooooo >:(.

But of course I won't be. Yes, I'm biased, but I think he'll make a very good deputy. I'm constantly amazed by what an awesome young man he's grown into, especially considering how fucked up his mother is. I do worry, though... this isn't exactly a "safe" occupation he's chosen... this department has lost more than a few people in the past couple of years.

One thing I don't understand - do they really think that his mom is going to give him anything other than a glowing reference? :S:D

You'd be surprised.[:/]

And its not a safe occupation. However, good training helps...it is a sometimes fun and rewarding job, though. Sometimes the job is very hard and quite sad.

Really? That's fucked up. I can't imagine purposely doing or saying anything that might screw up his chance at this. I've even been being "good" myself, just in case they look at me before making a decision!

Well, let me put it this way, Sunday night I had to have a LONG talk with someone to explain to them that it is illegal to kick their 15yr old out of the house. That they are, as parents, bound to provide for the children they produced unless they give up their rights as parents in a legal setting....or they have their rights taken away.

Lucky for the kid, the grandma showed up and was willing to take the kid in for a while.[:/]

Yea!!! :)
That's a good mama...got your baby all growed up and behavin' all respectable! B| (and now you know at least one county that you can speed in!! >:(:D)

And pardon but I couldn't help but see the apparent irony of a skydiver being worried about the 'danger' of a police officer...:P:ph34r:

You should be proud! You did good! :)

Not to hijack Lisa's thread but:

What if the kid is out of control and not following the house rules? I kicked my son out for a short time after he got his driver license. It seemed that Satan had taken over his mind and he refused to listen to anything I said and refused to follow any rules of the house. It only took two nights of him being out on his own that he learned to follow the house rules. There was no way in hell I was going to allow him to do what he wanted to do, when he wanted to do it.

BTW, he has sense come to me and thanked me for being a "great" mom and always standing my ground with him. He's on the Dean's list at college right now, and working a full time job. I did some thing right.

Lisa, I can't wait till we head down to the town your son will be working for, and "stir" up a little trouble:ph34r: Can't you just see the look on his face when we extend our arms forward and say, "Cuff me officer. We've been very bad."

it may also be a way for the department to find out if he has familial support. he not that old is he?

You only thought it was a shithole b/c you were in H-town. The rest of central Texas is really nice.*

Maybe I can make it to a boogie in your neck of the woods this year. I'll have to try to make it to the Farm for a boogie.

Cool. I'll keep my ear to the rail for some up coming boogies then put in for some time off work. That would be a great road trip for my next vehicle or on my motorcycle.

That's pretty cool Lisa. My kid is just starting to get old enough to become his own person. He's 11 now. Just started racing Motocross. His Mom worries to death as I do a little too but you can't put your kids in a closet just so they will be safe. You have to let them make their own lives. Be proud...........I hope my son grows up to be as cool as yours! :)
