Muenkel 0 #1 October 24, 2006 To all DZ.com folks, I brought my Sister-in-Law to her Oncologist appointment today. While I was in the waiting room, I picked up this short poem that I found to be very encouraging. I want to share it with you folks as I know many of us have been touched by cancer in some form. What Cancer Cannot Do Cancer is so limited... It cannot cripple love It cannot shatter hope It cannot corrode faith It cannot destroy peace It cannot kill friendship It cannot suppress memories It cannot silence courage It cannot invade the soul It cannot steal eternal life It cannot conquer the spirit *source unknown I hope this encourages someone as it has me.Chris _________________________________________ Chris

Muenkel 0 #3 October 24, 2006 Smartass. Yes, by all means. But only Cocheese should start smoking. We can use him as the guinea pig to find out if this poem is true. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
Michele 1 #4 October 24, 2006 Thanks, Chris. It's important to realize the whole person, and where the illness is. It's not the person who's ill; it's their body. And while that illness threatens - and takes life - to kill a person's soul cannot occur. And that is what the poem addresses... My prayers are for your sister-in-law...and for you and your family. TheBachelor 5 #6 October 25, 2006 Thanks for posting that. I have a friend who had surgery for his cancer, and during that surgery they found that it had spread quite a bit. He's got a long schedule of chemo coming up, and I'm sure he's feeling pretty down so he'll appreciate this message. There are battered women? I've been eating 'em plain all of these years... Tell your friend that my sis-in-law is in week 14 of a very radical 16 week run of chemo. She was told that by week 5, she would be writhing in pain. She has done phenomenal. She's had some rough days, but never has she experienced 'writhing'. Every patient is different. I wish and pray for the best for your friend. Take care, Chris _________________________________________ Chris
