What a night

Recommended Posts

It's 3am and I was just stranded on the highway with a dead cell phone for the last two hours. Some stranger guy came to my broken down car when I was crying on the side of the road and just helped me. Without him, I would not be home right now. Thank you, to the angel which helped me get home tonight.

God Bless,

Gail Marie

Glad to hear you made it home safe, and that angels do exist. I know they do, but it's nice to see other people experience that, too.

But now I can't get the song out of my head...

"Oh what a night!
Sweet December, back in '63,
What a very special time for me,
'Cause I remember what a night."

Great song, at least, to get stuck in my head...

Help me recap to make sure I understand....

1) You were out alone after midnight with an unreliable car (not sure what caused you to be stranded - perhaps I'm wrong there)

2) You let your cell phone die so you couldn't call for help

3) You got in the car of some random guy who stopped to help you at 3 a.m.

You're lucky you're not a movie of the week. :S

Self-reliance and problem-solving skills are going to serve you well in this world. You'll improve your own safety if you start using them more often. Just in this scenario alone, I see a few things that raise MAJOR red flags. Sorry if this sounds overly harsh, but you got damn lucky this time.

Possible alternative solutions:

-- carry a cell phone charger in your car, and/or keep your phone charged at all times, especially when you are out alone at night

-- if you find yourself in that situation again ... make a sign or something that says "Please call police." Or when random stranger guy stops, crack the window slightly and say "Please call the police for me."
"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

My car usually isn't unreliable.. it's a good little camry and my cell phone is usually charged up... but my cigarette lighter in my car quit working this week... I think all I need is a new fuse for it. I am going to go buy a new fuse today though!! I didn't get into the car with a stranger though, he showed up walking his dog and helped me out and got me going.... an angel in disguise!!

I like the sign idea... I wish I had thought of that!!

A few police cars passed me last night, but no one stopped. I am very grateful though!!!

Did you have your hazards on the whole time? Police will usually stop if there is a reason for them to stop. If the car looks like it was abandoned they usually stop also. Something isn't right that police passed you by and didn't make an effort to check on you.

Were you out trying to flag them down when they were coming by at least?

This happens all day every day all across the country.

Im glad you got back safe but if that guy wasnt as nice as he seemed your night could have been the plot of a Lifetime movie.

Be careful who you trust. Even weirdos walk their dogs.

Warnings aside, the story is about the fact that even though she was in a vulnerable position, someone stopped to help her, and that someone was a man, and was a very decent person.

So heed warnings, but let's not forget that not all men are rapists, murderers or n'er do wells. I know I've helped out many women in my own lifetime, and know many, many decent men that have done the same -

So, in the last few months, you've been pulled over by a cop in your bikini, hit a deer, done naked jumps, lingerie jumps in the tunnel, and lived in a storage unit with some Venezuelen men you barely know (I'm sure there's more but those were the only ones I remember reading).[:/]

Wake up and smell the coffee, girl! You've been lucky this far because you're far too trusting. Check out the women's forum and look for posts of women far more trusting than you who were raped within 100 ft of the Orlando Wind Tunnel or taken advantage of in other ways.

Sometimes your complete innocence is a ray of sunshine but please know that you're a target to someone who is much more evil than you could ever fathom. The internet is not safe and you've truly got a big ol' bullseye painted right on your back.

I say this because I adore you and I care for you. I know you want to experience life to the fullest but please smarten up. I would hate to lose your wonderul smiling face because you trusted too openly.

Hugs!:)
