Jump through clouds??

Recommended Posts

I love cloud busting. One place I went to :| had total cloud clover and we are talking thick rain clouds. The only downside was they were about 5' feet thick and hurt like fuck with the water droplets.

At deployment I realisde I was way away from the DZ and couldn't get back and could here the rain on my canopy :D I landed about a mile off in some field between the main road, a concrete water irrigation channel and the power lines.

But damn was it fun! :D:P

In the blazing heat this summer i done a sunset load in a t-shirt. Didnt realise how cold it had got up there, in clear sky it was like pins and needles in my arms, but with real pins. Stung like a bitch.

Lol, I had red marks all around my neck, chin and face for a day or so (open face helmet). We launched a horny gorilla then went flat and stable for the cloud, we could actually hear each other screaming and gripped really tight in pain :D:D soon as we busted the cloud we just held it flat and stable, just in relief to have got over that, it was like someone blasting a sand blaster at your face for a good 25 seconds or so [:/]

Yeah, in hindsight it was stupid and seeing the rain streaming over the cockpit windows as we climed to altitude should have been my first warning sign. Still, we got 15k feet, I could hardly sit out that oppurtunity! :D

Hmmmm. Of course no one has ever jumped through a cloud, that would be against the law.;) Although those white puffy things look sooooo soft.:)

There are some days when those damned meth labs kick up one hell of a haze though.... If we stop to worry about that haze, then the meth labs win and we'll never give in to that !

Illegal?? Are you kidding me?

Dude, it may be illegal in some places but there are many dropzones where you can.

Most dropzones i have been to that do not have controlled airspace will jump through clouds.

I just dont like clouds full of ice or at break off time. I love openning on top of clouds and swooping the clouds. I hate opening in clouds, that can be a bit scary.

better read your regs about airspace and visibility requirements, even in uncontroled airspace.
Experience is a difficult teacher, she gives you the test first and the lesson afterward

At a DZ that is now defunct. I was too green and too trusting as I followed the DZ "meteorologist" out the KingAir on one of my 1st solos.
Watched him fall into a solid cloudbank at 11K and I went in right behind him. Out at 10K. Felt like falling through a zero visibility humidifier. Lucky me--no rain, hail--or other jumpers. Oh to be dumb, green and lucky . . . . :S
