Slowfaller 0 #1 October 30, 2006 My mom is trying to change her resume she scanned into a word document. I'm over here and not figuring it out so I thought maybe someone would know... Basically it scanned and saved as a jpeg. The word processer that they have is wordperfect 10. Any help would be great. Mucho thanks --"Someday you will die and somehow somethings going to steal your carbon" -MM
Slappie 9 #2 October 30, 2006 Other then using a high priced OCR you'll probably have to start over. If you buy a good brand scanner (Epson - Canon) for something about 100$, such a scanner DOES COME with a OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. An OCR software is a software that you submit to it a JPEG and same software produces a word document with the best recognized characters. With 100$ you do the deal.Stay safe out there Blue Skies and Soft Walls BASE #689 - base_689AT_NO_123_SPAMyahoo.com
Sockpuppet 0 #5 October 30, 2006 I have some OCR software I could run it through...would mean that she would have to send me her CV though... ------ Two of the three voices in my head agree with you. Slowfaller 0 #6 October 30, 2006 My dad wanted to go get some lunch and my mom just typed it out manually while we were gone. I'm going to play with this scanner and see if there is OCR. It's an HP all-in-one. She thanks you all for the replies though. --"Someday you will die and somehow somethings going to steal your carbon" -MM
SmilingPhoenix 0 #7 October 30, 2006 The HP all-in-ones do have that feature. I think it's called HP Document Viewer or something. Just make sure you don't save it as a jpeg because then you can't edit the text.Because life is an adventure - it may not be the one you planned, but then it wouldn't be an adventure! Slowfaller 0 #8 October 30, 2006 Just figured it out. I've actually never heard of OCR but using the help feature (go figure) I scanned it as editable text. Much appreciated. My dad was in a hurry to go to lunch so I posted the question and took off. Thanks again everyone. --"Someday you will die and somehow somethings going to steal your carbon" -MM
