karenmeal 0 #26 October 30, 2006 I don't think that we're going to get trick or treaters.. we don't really live on a good road for little kids to be walking on. But I may keep a bowl full of fun size kit-kats or snickers just in case. I would feel horrible if a kid came by and I had to let them down! flyangel2 2 #27 October 30, 2006 QuoteBoot in ass. Theres a reason my light is off idiot. Yup, my light will be off this year too. It's getting really out of hand in my area. Over the years there have been more kids that don't even live in my area, knocking on doorsMay your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. - Edward Abbey
ACMESkydiver 0 #28 October 30, 2006 QuoteI always hand out chocolate. That way, if there are leftovers, I get a treat too! Yeah, that's what we say over here...however, it's not halloween yet and 3 bags of chocolate treats are somehow completely empty. Now I have to go fight people at the stores for the last bags of snickers...~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. windcatcher 0 #30 October 30, 2006 Seems to me like it would be unsafe for children to accept and eat homemade treats ( you never know who you can trust nowadays.) I know if my child came home with a homemade treat, unless I knew the person well who made it, I would throw it away. edited to add: Since I don't celebrate Halloween, I'm probably not giving out any candy. moodyskydiver 0 #31 October 30, 2006 Quotedid you know that America is a country that does not celebrate 'Guy Fawkes' night. This date is the rest of the western worlds bonfire night. nov 5th. Big firework show around the world on this night celebrating 'guy fawkes'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes Remember, remember the fifth of November The gunpowder treason and plot. I see no reason why gunpowder treason Should ever be forgot. Guy Fawkes, twas his intent To blow up king and parliament. Three score barrels were laid below To prove old England's overthrow. By God's mercy he was catched With a dark lantern and lighted match. Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring Holler boys, holler boys, God save the King ...penny for the guy? and yes I'm an American..born and raised.I just dont keep my views limited to the states My guess is that the US doesnt celebrate the burning in effigy of a man who disagreed with British government simply b/c thats the reason the founders of the colonies that lead to the birth of our country left that country to begin with, they too disagreed with the government (albeit many years later). If I understand correctly,Guy Fawkes was 'prostesting' the governments movement to Protestant rule and breaking away from the Catholic church (am I correct?).If so, that is another tie between the founders of the US and Fawkes...they wanted religious freedom.Ofcourse this is all my assumption and I could be completely wrong. But it is more of a SC topic anyway,so I'll leave it at that.
