How Long Have You Held Your Job?

Recommended Posts

Today is the 25th anniversary of my employment with this firm. The boss just brought me a dozen roses. :)
When I started working here two of the partners were in high school. One of them was playing little league baseball. Three of the employees hadn’t even been born yet.

I feel truly blessed to be able to work for a company that I can respect, is honest, financially secure, and appreciates my contribution to the success of the firm.

So… How long have you been working at your current job? Would you want to be there for 25 years?

8 Years today. Started November 1, 1998.

Exercised my options 3 years ago and bought 20% of the company.

In 4 Years, the Senior Partner (Majority Owner) is retiring and My self and one other partner are in the process of buying him out.

Sell the company a couple years after that and be retired at 40 (Give or take a couple years). That is the plan anyway.

Today is also my anniversary for the company I'm currently working for, but mine is only my 1 year anniversary. Never held a job for less than over two years, and that includes jobs I had in high school.

If I'm here in 25 years, I hope that someone would have shot me by then. Not that I don't like who I work for or what I'm doing now. It's a small company and really not too many opportunties for advancement and the challenge is already fading.

That was nice of them to reward your 25 years service with flowers :|

The guys at work were so happy last week that the boss treated us to a set of biscuits they forgot we been busting a gut for months! :D

Nice gesture but really, for all you've done for them, it doesn't mean shit

What means the most is that they overpay me. B| I'd rather that they give me money over any other gesture.

Haha, cant argue with that, I guess they could only afford to get you flowers then. Lol, just make sure you keep busy else they might start trimming the 'dead wood'

I've been in my job for seven years as of next week. Been with the company for nine. I just interviewed for another position w/in the company, but haven't heard anything yet. I'd like to stay with the company for 25 years, but I think I'll move back to the east coast before then. Not that I don't like Denver, but I really miss being near the ocean.

The company is growing, has never had a losing quarter, and is owned by Boeing. I like being on the leading edge of aviation technology, so I'm pretty happy here.
