skymedic 0 #26 November 2, 2006 QuoteAfter 3 years that totally died - CD drive AND hard drive. All it is now is a nice display with an external hard drive and external dvd drive doing the work. If you have the faintest clue how to work a screw drive and know how to unplug and plug a wire into something you can replace both of those. The instructions are in your manual that came with your iMac. But once again...please go to windozzzz and see how that works for ya. enjoy all the spam, viruses, etc. that you can handle. And also less chance for them to write them for me. My iMac has been going strong for several years with nary a problem. upgraded ram, airport, HD, and superdrive by my self with only a screw driver and torx wrench. Simple...easy...and it just works. murrays 0 #27 November 3, 2006 iFixit.com has got to have the best site I've seen yet for selling you the parts you need and showing you how to replace nearly anything in an iPod or Mac. I hope some of you might find this useful. (I haven't bought anything from this website but have replaced the battery in my old 2nd gen iPod...which still works great after 4 years.)-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
