skymama 37 #1 November 3, 2006 I love that my county offers early voting now. The last time I went, I was the only person in the room voting. No lines, no fuss, it's great! I love that I can do down this weekend and do it at my leisure instead of trying to fit it in on a work day. By the way, this isn't a SC thread, so don't try to make it one. skymama 37 #9 November 3, 2006 Well, I'm not talking about absentee voting. They have voting locations open here so we can go early. I guess they don't do that in very many places! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

karenmeal 0 #11 November 3, 2006 We do mail-in voting. It's pretty sweet. But to be honest I only actually read up on a couple of the amendments, etc. that sound interesting and leave the rest blank.Although...I do get kinda jealous that everyone else gets a super-cool sticker on voting day. I vote for absentee ballots to come with the sticker from now on!Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
SpeedRacer 1 #13 November 3, 2006 I don't think we have early voting in my county, as far as I know. But they do mail out a ballot that lists all the candidates & offices up for election, and also all of the referendum questions, so you have plenty of time to figure out what to do before you go in to vote. JohnRich 4 #16 November 3, 2006 Heck yeah! No lines, no hassle. In and out fast. The only problem is that many of the candidates wait until the last minute before regular election day to mail you their literature, which arrives after you've already early-voted. So you need to do your own research more in advance, to keep from making bad voting choices.
Steel 0 #17 November 3, 2006 QuoteI don't think we have early voting in my county, . Or your entire state 14 states do not allow early or in-person absentee voting. (AL, CT, DE, MD, MA, MI, MS, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, SC, WA 15 states allow no-excuse early voting. (AZ, AR, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, LA, NV, NM, NC, ND, TN, TX, WV)If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. PLFXpert 0 #18 November 3, 2006 Quotein-person absentee voting I have a question. Being that I've always voted absentee, I wonder; does one just walk into a booth and vote without the vote being associated in an way with their name in particular? I.e. On my absentee ballot envelope my full name, address & signature appear. I wondered this the other day when it was brought up that, whether or not a person votes within their own party is unknown.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. This is how it happens in Oklahoma I assume its similar in other states that allow it. IN-PERSON ABSENTEE VOTING Voters may cast an absentee ballot in person at the county election board office from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Monday before all elections. For state and federal elections only, in-person absentee voting also is available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. In-person absentee voters must fill out and sign an application form when they arrive to vote.If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. When you go in person, you hand them your ID so that they can see that you are registered and are in the right Precinct and then you go vote. Each place I've lived, there has been a different way to vote. Here, they give me paper and a marker. Other places, I've used a machine with levers. It just depends on your area, I think. When you're done, you either walk out of the booth or put your form into a machine. tbrown 26 #23 November 4, 2006 I've done it before, but this time around it's already come & gone and I missed it. Have to wait for Election Day now. Our local polling place is pretty good though, I've never had to wait more than a few minutes, if at all. There's something nice about hanging out with a crowd of voters, everybody's pretty friendly and on their best behavior. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !
