mrGuy 0 #26 November 4, 2006 I just saw a litter box at PetCo. It had a TOP opening. Like a big tuperware thing and the lid had a hole in it for the cats to enter through. This seems like it would work for flinging-litter cats also.
JSBIRD 1 #27 November 4, 2006 Living in a converted 40 foot diesel pusher bus, and having an indoor only cat, I couldn't deal with the box or litter. We are about 4 weeks into toilet training, with only two mishaps. We are at the stage of using the clear liner only, and it now has a 4 inch hole in the center of it. Vincent seems to love looking at the water down there. 359"Now I've settled down, in a quiet little town, and forgot about everything"
skycat 0 #28 November 4, 2006 Toilet training wouldn't work in our house for several reasons. 1) The cat likes to play in the toilet water. 2) The cat likes to drink the toilet water. 3) The dog likes to drink the toilet water. Pretty much the cover needs to be closed on our toilets at all times. Fly it like you stole it!
FrEaK_aCcIdEnT 0 #29 November 5, 2006 my girlfriend's cat kicks litter like a raging bull. I opted to buy the top entering litterbox. They didnt even notice the change out. There is still a little mess due to tracking but not even in close to what it used to be. You can achieve the same results with cutting a 6-8" hole in the top of one of these http://www.rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid/product/product.jhtml?prodId=HPProd150022 and adding some litter traping mat to the top for the climb in and out. the one at the pet store is $32. you should be able to make it for less than $20.
