Nightingale 0 #1 November 1, 2006 anyone have any experience with this? www.catgenie.com if it works as claimed, seems like it would be the most amazing invention for cats since canned catfood.
AggieDave 6 #2 November 1, 2006 If it works as well as the older motorized metal comb through the litter cat box, then it'll be a piece of crap. My cats broke the older motorized litter box, they would pile cat litter up against the comb since they didn't like it moving. It broke the gears and such for the movement. Quite funny, actually, smart cats.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
2fat2fly 0 #3 November 1, 2006 Just get a dog, they do a great job of cleaning out the litter box.I am not the man. But the man knows my name...and he's worried

AggieDave 6 #6 November 1, 2006 I understand its different, I was commenting on the last success of the "wonder" product for cat boxes.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
Nightingale 0 #7 November 1, 2006 QuoteYou could make your cat piss & shit in other peoples gardens, thats what they apprantly do in our neighbourhood - fuckers! My cats are strictly indoors. It's not safe for cats outside around here. Cars, coyotes. My parents lost two cats to coyotes, and one to a car. Mine stay inside.
Nightingale 0 #8 November 1, 2006 QuoteI understand its different, I was commenting on the last success of the "wonder" product for cat boxes. I had one of those littermaid boxes a few years ago. It worked pretty well, but stopped after about 2 years. The little containers were expensive, though.

skycat 0 #10 November 1, 2006 Well I have the other type of cat box and while it works well, it's a pain in the butt to change waste bins. I'd love to know if this thing works also, well and then if it does I'd have to figure out how to fit it in my tiny bathroom. Maybe pookiebear would let me put it in the basement bathroom.Fly it like you stole it!
Nightingale 0 #11 November 1, 2006 I was reading on a cat forum about it. people have tapped into sink lines (put a T connecter in the water line and the drain line) too, so location might not be a huge problem.
mrGuy 0 #12 November 1, 2006 The thing looks like a toilet. Works like a toilet. takes up space like a toilet. Why not train the cat to go in the TOILET? From what I've heard it is something that any cat can learn, and they even have these training pan things at PetCo that make it a step by step thing. Just like Jinxy in "meet the parents." I've been thinking about trying it out on my cats. EDIT: I just looked for the price....only $299.99!!! No thanks!
Nightingale 0 #13 November 1, 2006 I tried the toilet train the cat thing. It worked for a while for the little cat, but my 17 pound cat stepped on the trainer thing and pretty much bent it and fell in, and wanted nothing to do with it after that. mrGuy 0 #14 November 1, 2006 Cats are never funnier than when they fall in the toilet! (but then you gotta clean them up, and that sucks)
Nightingale 0 #15 November 1, 2006 When Indy (the little cat) was about 6 months old, he fell in the toilet and somehow managed to close the lid when I wasn't home. I came home and heard this god-awful cat howling echoing everywhere, and I spent about 15 mins looking for the cat, and finally went into the bathroom. The toilet lid went thunk, I opened it up, and there was this soaked little kitten sitting on the shallow part of the bowl... he looked up at me and went "mew" and I about fell over laughing. Cat was not happy when he was removed from toilet water and promptly deposited in the bathtub for a thorough scrubbing.

demoss99 0 #17 November 2, 2006 What our littermate doesn't "rake" into the little hopper, my border collie takes care of...Just don't let him give you kisses!!!! His teeth are remarkably white though. I'm thinking that abrasive litter must work like a milkbone or something - haha. Seriously, our neighbor bought that unit you're looking at and says it works very well. She has 4 cats so it gets a workout I'm sure. SpeedRacer 1 #18 November 2, 2006 One of my cats (Sonny, the male) likes to kick the cat litter way the hell out of the box when he's finished. It gets litter all over the floor. After a while he has enough on the floor so that he can later use the floor itself as a litter box. mnealtx 0 #19 November 2, 2006 Get an enclosed box...he'll still kick it up against the back wall (and you'll have to smooth it back out), but at least it'll still be in the box!!!Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706

Michele 1 #25 November 3, 2006 QuoteMy one cat likes to pee up to high on their enclosed litter box and then it leaks down the back. Any solutions to that? I have a cat who'll do that if the box isn't smack against the wall on three sides. How on three sides? It's wedged between two walls and the hot water heater...they don't like their tail touching anything, so in preventing them from three walls makes them face the opening, and so they stay in the litter box that way. I'll think about it, and see if I can't figure out another solution...but that works for my guys. [Edited to add: sorry, I misread the original post. In an enclosed box, try lining it with newspapers. Allow the papers to "creep" up the sides. This will help prevent leaks in btween the seams...and another friend of mine uses duct tape. Not sure how she cleans the box, but apparently it can be done. Sorry about that!] Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~
