ACMESkydiver 0 #1 November 9, 2006 I go to my daughter's every year. Every year she gives me a pretty red carnation tied with red, white, and blue ribbon...every year, I am one of only 2 women veterans or the only woman veteran in attendance. This year I stood alone. This year, the veterans representing was a noticeably smaller group...I have no idea why. I was the only woman. I was the only one under 40. In years past, we've had a few young guys just out of the service, some just back from overseas tours. They sang songs, my daughter was in a skit, they did slide shows of kids' veteran relatives...there was art work and cheers. They go through each of the services songs every year, and every year it's just a little different. We usually have someone from each branch represented; this year, no Coast Guard...and Army overwhelmed, as we always do. Did anyone else go to their son or daughter's or niece or nephew's school?~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. Skyrad 0 #2 November 9, 2006 What is this all about? We don't have Vets day in the UK. Is it for the dead as an act of rememberance or for the living service personnel? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. JohnRich 4 #3 November 9, 2006 I'm glad to hear that they're still teaching some children about respect and appreciation for the military. Thanks for being there.

We have a Memorial Day holiday which is to honor and respect dead servicemen. And Veteran's Day is to honor all those who have served. Attached: My Memorial Day display at the DZ last year. A 'veteran' is anyone that previously served in our military; whether they are still living or deceased. We remember the sacrifice made; life, health, family, freedoms, so that the rest of the nation can live free. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
