From looking at the responses, there are at least four liars on this forum right now.

You think the ones who said more the 3 lied?

You know, there are a couple of fairly high level researchers and academics here.... 3 may be a low number for some of them.

EDIT: unless we're talking about sleeping with them! lol.. then I dont know:P

Attended two seminars given by chemistry laureates.
The first one didn't impress me but then he'd one the nobel and I don't think he cared too much about my opinion ( to be honest his name escapes me). Heard the ESI-MS guy (last years) at a conference.

I voted more than 3.

Just thinking about it, for 5 minutes, I came up with at least 7 Nobel prize winners that I heard of.

Mother Theresa
Mikhail Gorbachev
Nelson Mandela
Yithzak Rabin
Yasser Arafat
Jimmy Carter
Lech Walesa

;)

Trying to make amends for dragging it down?

I know that Nobel invented dynamite with the hopes that it would make war so completely intolerable that no one would endeavor to enter into it...oops. And then later developed his peace prize in hopes to prevent the world populace from pissing on his tombstone!

Now there's a fucking genius! :S

Kallend should have been more precise, by adding the word: "Personally" ! :P

;)

Yves.

Negative. If I meant how many have you heard of, or how many do you know about, I would have written that.:)

Is a Nobel Laureate someone who has received a Nobel Prize? If so, I knew of one who taught at my old university. I have known and worked with a couple scientists who have had honorable mention in the scientific community but I don't know if that classifies them as Nobel Laureates.

OK, So i've heard about many Nobel Prize winners, and I can name many of them, but I personally don't know any one of them.

Meeting them is not really important to me. What really matters, is what they've accomplished for the benefit of humanity.

I had an economics class with Dr. Harry Markowitz. He won a Noble prize for economics in 1990. A great teacher and a wonderful man. I still speak to him once or twice a year. He called me last week for the holidays. It's amazing how down to earth he is.

I've met:

1) Norman Ramsey (1989 Nobel Physics Prize)
2) Glenn Seaborg (Nobel Chemistry Prize, discoverer of plutonium)
3) Bill Wilson (Nobel Physics Prize for laser cooling techniques)
4) Rick Smalley (Nobel Chemistry Prize for buckyballs)
5) Robert Kurl (Nobel Chemistry Prize for buckyballs)
6) Steven Weinberg (Nobel Physics Prize)
7) Eric Cornell (Nobel Physics Prize)
8) Sheldon Glashow (Nobel Physics Prize)
9) Wolfgang Ketterly (Nobel Physics Prize)
10) Harold Varmus (1989 Nobel Medicine Prize)

The Nobel Ceremony is very cool. It consists of a very long party with lots of funky opera with clouds projected on the ceiling all night. The wine flows and people party really good and even converse with King and Queen of Sweden.
