kiltboy 0 #9 December 10, 2003 Attended two seminars given by chemistry laureates. The first one didn't impress me but then he'd one the nobel and I don't think he cared too much about my opinion ( to be honest his name escapes me). Heard the ESI-MS guy (last years) at a conference. David

FallRate 0 #14 December 11, 2003 QuoteJust thought I'd raise the tone a little. Trying to make amends for dragging it down? I know that Nobel invented dynamite with the hopes that it would make war so completely intolerable that no one would endeavor to enter into it...oops. And then later developed his peace prize in hopes to prevent the world populace from pissing on his tombstone! Now there's a fucking genius! NoShitThereIWas 0 #17 December 11, 2003 Is a Nobel Laureate someone who has received a Nobel Prize? If so, I knew of one who taught at my old university. I have known and worked with a couple scientists who have had honorable mention in the scientific community but I don't know if that classifies them as Nobel Laureates.Roy Bacon: "Elvises, light your fires." OK, So i've heard about many Nobel Prize winners, and I can name many of them, but I personally don't know any one of them. Meeting them is not really important to me. What really matters, is what they've accomplished for the benefit of humanity. Yves.
Brian425 0 #20 December 11, 2003 I had an economics class with Dr. Harry Markowitz. He won a Noble prize for economics in 1990. A great teacher and a wonderful man. I still speak to him once or twice a year. He called me last week for the holidays. It's amazing how down to earth he is.
