wine collectors

do any of you sky nuts collect wines? i have been collecting for the last 3 years or so and i usually purchase wines that are local to the area im visiting here in europe or ones that just catch my eye and then i grab ones that are good to my palate, so what do you guys go for?

While your in Empuria, go to the big supermarket "Monseratt" look for a red wine called Dalmau reserva 1995, spend the $35+ dollars it's going to cost you,
Take it home an share it with a VERY special friend, it is with out a doubt the best affordable full bodied red wine that Spain has to offer.

White wine "Penedes"

I just went to Temecula Valley a couple of weeks ago. Stuart had an outstanding red called Sangiovese. QUite nice. I snagged a bottle for my grandmother's Christmas present.

My husband and I have about 500 bottles. It's a varied collection but if there's one focus it's the 150 bottles of late 90s Oregon Pinot Noirs.

We also have about 50 various Champagnes, but that's because I got lucky and bought them as a block from someone off craigslist.

Every time I buy wine, I drink it...lol. My collection just doesn't seem to be growing.

see my problem is i have all these wines from places that ive been to that i will probably never find again and i want to drink them eventually but reluctant to do so, like i got a karl marx bordeux and its just the novelty of it, oh well ill let it sit for a while then ill drink it on a special occasion

I only collect empty wine bottles. A full one is absolutely useless.

Don't tend to collect it but we do buy a lot of white mostly Dry, from all over (love those new World whites) - we've just had a wonderful (cheap) White Burgundy, with our sunday roast.. went down a treat.

ok so the karl marx was too tempting and it turns out its a burgundy, very dry and needs aging badly.
very strong flavor with an extremely fruity smell. i dont think i can stomach more than a glass.
