The breeder.... tried the soaping them, but it didnt work and theres no way Im rubbing a lizard on a pinkie to feed it so this was the alternitive to get them to eat. Its also in my corn book

Lisa, you any other ideas besides the ivory soap and the lizard rubbing? I wont go live feed.

You need to do that. I'm no snake expert but I do know how to feed them..large, small, ones that are picky. They need live food. I know it's hard, but what got me over it was thinking "These will not become lab mice." "These will not become lab mice." It's nature...own a snake, feed them like they would feed themselves.

They need to have their natural hunt and kill. Smelling defrosted blood isn't the way. Sorry.

I understand your point, and I respect it. I however have seen what can happen to a snake when it doesnt want to eat and the snake food attacks the snake. If they were in the wild and had room to run away it is one thing. I cant trap them in a feeding bin and hope that they eat versus get attacked. These snakes I have are captive bred for many generations and have only eaten thawed food. The stress of the new enviroment makes them a bit sketchy to eat at first. I did try killing a pinkie myself, and I just couldnt do it. Its not me. I would give up the snakes before I can physically crush a animal or slit its throat.

duh ... lol but they wont be on pinkies forever.... Streamers almost on hoppers, her lump was gone in 7 hours today :o At least when its frozen and I accidently break its foot off while taking it out of the bag I dont feel as guilty.... :|

Plus it completley freaks my kids out that I poke a hole in the pinkie and squeeze its head juice out ....

In all seriousness, if I could bepromised that in no way shape or form will my snake be hurt by its food once it got older (not the size of a pencil) I would do it. I know its the best thing for them if it all goes well.

Im a mean mom, they dont believe in Santa, they cant have a dog, and I wont let them eat cookies for dinner. They watched, well Kyle did once, now I am on his shit list for making mommy and daddy mice sad for losing their baby. Cody loves it and is fasinated by the snakes. Kyles protesting and thinks that I can convince the snakes to be vegatarians

The snakes are mine. In my room. Not much in this apartment that is just mine, but they dont go near the snakes because I dont want to stress the snakes out. They watch from afar if they choose to, and cody got a 2 min handling lesson.

The Walt tub stuff didnt? :|

Guess what would happen when they needed hoppers or full growns? My house would become a rodent haven, where all live feed goes to not get sentenced to death but instead become a pet and die of natural causes, then get a friggen funeral and I dont have enough shoe boxes for that.

And God forbid I actually could drop a live innocent cute little mouse in with my predator and it wasnt eaten right away, sigh mice dont like sharing a small feed tub with their enemy... they fight back. :|

You'll catch on ;) And you will drop a live one. Especially if you want to keep these snakes alive :)

Of my recent Snow Corn, his parents have never been fed live and Im waiting on the info from his grandparents to find out if he is motley or het. At the zoo we never fed live. :P Serious, id end up having a slew of mice in their own cages, with friggen names , and a grain account at petco, all the while still be feeding Streamer and Horseshoe thawed feed....
