Broke 0 #7 November 13, 2006 I rember looking in a magazine while flying Southwest where there was land for sale in Northern New Mexico. 2.5 acre plots and best of all this land came with a small airport for all people who bought property in this area.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. AggieDave 6 #9 November 13, 2006 Quoteany one interested in helping me get a new drop zone going and any ideas on how I can raise the rest of the money I need to get the CASA So you're asking for donations? Sort of like spam in the forums? Seriously, though, have you run the numbers for using a CASA as a daily operations plane for a DZ? If you have I seriously doubt you would buy something like that for a new DZ. A solid 182 is a good plane to start a DZ with. A C-208B or a PAC-750 would be the choice if you had the money to buy a turbine for a beginning DZ. Unless you've got a significant amount of money to throw away on a monthly basis, starting a DZ with a turbine is hard to do. It'll take years to turn a profit.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

JohnMitchell 16 #11 November 13, 2006 Best of luck to you. Although a Casa is a cool jump plane, is it the most cost effecient way to go? I'm thinking a Caravan is a good, economical way to start, depending on the competition in your market place. Where will this new DZ be located? angrypeppers 1 #13 November 13, 2006 My vote is to sell the Saratoga, buy a couple of C-182's and get jumping. If/when you have the bucks, then think turbine. I do like the bake sale idea though. And get some ponies so LMWB will show up. Burn the land and boil the sea, You can't take the sky from me.
Samurai136 0 #14 November 13, 2006 Napa County Airport? http://www.napacountyairport.org/Site/7/0/9/VisitorsOccupants.aspx -Has a Control Tower -JAL pilot training center -CHIPs Air unit QuoteFrom the 1970s to the present, Napa Valley has grown into a highly desirable tourist destination. Events like the Napa Valley Wine Auction, and major events at the nearby Infineon Raceway, create a peak of arrivals and departures at the Napa Valley Airport. A number of corporate jets are now based at Napa Valley Airport and there is a lengthy waiting list for hangar space. Talk to the FBO and the USPA. The last airport I dropped on that had a control tower, called off our jump run when we were a half mile out. Apparently, the corporate jet that was on approach 50 miles out took priority. After circling for 10-15 minutes we were cleared for jumping. A few minutes after I landed the same corporate jet took off again. Point being, expect any jump operations conducted there to be something less than top priority. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

hjumper33 0 #21 November 13, 2006 Norcal has several popular DZs already also, a CASA would draw, but youve got to consider how many people are committed to a DZ already, and how many are close enough to pay whatever youll have to charge for CASA loads. (especially when Bill charges $13 to full altitude in a kingair/beech/otter)
