Butters 0 #205 November 16, 2006 Actually, reaching the ground is not always a goal or the only goal (similar to reaching the top in climbing is not always a goal or the only goal). For some people in skydivng the goal is to not reach the ground, this goal has not been met, so for some people skydiving must be really hard."That looks dangerous." beowulf 1 #208 November 16, 2006 right, but you don't always live through the landing. I prefer to land with out injury or death. How you land is essential, but not the whole point in skydiving. Just like in rockclimbing it isn't just about getting to the top as it is about how you get there. If all you wanted to do was get to the top of a cliff there are much easier ways then climbing. fenix83 0 #212 November 16, 2006 Hi all, I feel my posts might have offended some people, and I just wanted to clarify a few things. My posts that have been quoted here were taken out of context (or the context wasn't clear when I posted). I took that thread to be a harmless exercise in verbal fencing with no thought to sticking to reality or being even remotely accurate. This was definitely the case for most RCers and I thought it was the case for most of you guys as well (I hope you wouldn't consider climbing with a monkey as a partner ) Maybe it was dealing with pissed of users all week, caffeine deficiency, the fact that one of your users managed to really get under my skin by attacking one of our regulars or just BLO syndrome, but if I offended anybody I do sincerely apologize. FWIW, I posted on RC that my family has a lot of jumpers in it, and that I would love to try it out someday. I meant that. -F

beowulf 1 #214 November 16, 2006 well OK not sure what that has to do with anything. If I weren't skydiving I would be rockclimbing. I prefer skydiving. Your previous post implied that the goal in rockclimbing is getting to the top and the goal in skydiving is just to land. Neither statement is true. I really don't know what the point of this is other then it seems you just want to argue. So I am finished with this.
Lindercles 0 #215 November 16, 2006 Telling the difference between playful wit and pointed assault can be difficult online. Take, for instance, these two sentences: "Suck a boulder, you cliff humping lavaphile." and "Pull the crag out of your ass climb over yourself." Which is which? Just that. I thought he intended it to be funny, in the same way that when I talk about driving a car around in circles so you can waste gas is a valid description of NASCAR (of course, in the case of NASCAR it is ). If we can't take a little shit from people who have just had their community's interface changed, and then they're bombarded with people telling them they should be glad about it -- well, let's just say we should be able to take it. And it was witty. Right up there with Billvon's quote about "Well, Jesus isn't a swooper so I don't need to listen to him about canopy choice." ladyskydiver 0 #220 November 16, 2006 Yes, it's indoor climbing when I'm able to go, but I figure it's like walking...need to learn the basics before you go outside and play. Plus, that way when I ask a question, I'll know just enough about the subject to be dangerous. Oh...and regarding the Nomex underwear, I prefer lace. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! My kids and I went climbing with a guide this summer in NC and we all loved it. I would totally be a skydiver/climber if we had mountains in FL. I think the sibling rivalry the two sites are having this week are silly, both sports are great! I've been following Sangiro's rules for 5 years now and there IS a method to his madness. I hope you all will come to appreciate the things he has implimented over there because they seem to work here pretty well. We have a fun and cool community thanks to him.
