guppie01 0 #3 November 17, 2006 Awww, it has all the pieces (in a crate). It's actually on the road to Universal Studios for a movie production. After the film, the production company is looking to donate it to a worthy cause.... I'm thinking it would be a nice addition at the DZ. g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" Raddest Ho this side of Jersey #1 - MISS YOU OMG, is she okay? It's better than a AN-2, as Viking sez, it's a MI-24. Methinks it has a tailgate. A few years back they used a bunch of these to support a 300 Way world record attempt in Russia (built to 297). So it's most definitely a jumpin' chopper ! Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !

Froggy 0 #25 November 18, 2006 QuoteThey used these for the record attemps in Russia: www.imcat.com/pages/MI26/HTML/index.htm Uh... Actually, Mi-24 is VERY different from Mi-26 that you are referring to. Mi-26 is a transport helicopter with a tailgate (ramp) that takes up to 82 troops (68 paratroopers with gear). In comparison, Mi-24 is a multi-purpose helicopter (attack/transport) that can only take 8 troops. It doesn't have a tailgate, and its side door doesn't look like a good exit setup. Actually, there was a pre-production version of Mi-24 with a sliding door, but they only made 10 of them. I doubt very much that Mi-24 can be used as a jump ship -- if anyone has a different info, please let me know, I'd be curios to hear it... P.S.: On the second thought, I figured this is exactly what you were saying in response to tbrown. In that case, sorry for arguing with a wrong person... -------------- We were not born to fly. And all we can do is to try not to fall...
