adventurechick 0 #1 November 16, 2006 Is there anyone here who has any experience with the Army Airborne Division? I was talking to a few recruiters today, but I would like some information from someone who is not trying to sell me the job. mrhoop 0 #6 November 16, 2006 I spent three years in the 82nd airborne division. If you like jumping static line mostly at night, at 800 feet AGL with full combat equipment you will have fun. Most of my jumps were with a T-10C round parachute. I never worried about the chute not opening, just how hard I will hit the ground. You will need to be a good runner to get through jump school.

leroydb 0 #13 November 16, 2006 Girls in halo yes... Possible best way for you to get there.. become a rigger Quote "You will need to be a good runner to get through jump school. " The above is subjective... When I was in ABN school I saw some "thick" people making it. Quote Is it possible to move up from static line into Ram air parachutes... ....... HALO school.... SF, Pathfinders etc. Yes up to HALO... Women are not Auth to go SF (just like they cant go 11B, etc...). Not that you couldn't become an operator......... Pathfinder has nothing to do with parachutes...Leroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio...

matthewcline 0 #15 November 16, 2006 Pathfinder has a lot to do with Parachutes. We run most of the Dropzones for Personel and Equipment and 80% of us jump into work, of the 80%, about 25% of that is also HALO. We are also the Only ones in the Army who can legaly servey a dropzone for use that is not in the AZARs. Just thought I would clarify that a little. Hey ya got video from the B&G Meet? The Photos you took of DOC are plastered all over his cubical, he may be pissed when he gets back to work tomorrow. An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! flyhi 24 #17 November 16, 2006 QuoteIs it possible to move up from static line into Ram air parachutes... I believe you have to be in the Army to be on the Golden Knights. Practice your accuracy and develop (if you don't have one already. Probably do.) a winning demeanor. And it was really, really great talking to you. (Notice winning demeanor?)Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
milehighpres 0 #18 November 16, 2006 gail, i am a rigger for air force spec ops. becomming a rigger is a way to be airborne and HALO/HAHO qualified. but you have to make sure if you go army...that you ask to become a rigger for spec ops in the army or air force or marines"the sky is not the limit....the ground is"
lawrocket 3 #19 November 16, 2006 I wasn't in Airborne, but I know a bit about it (Heck, I was part of the highly limited percent of Officers who had neither Airborne nor Air Assault - I had no intention of being in an MOS that used it, so why be a "5-jump chump?") If you are female and want to do Airborne, your best shot is to be a rigger. They'll make you jump them. But since most of the jobs that do Airborne are combat arms, you're opportunities as a female will be limited. It doesn't mean that you won't be able to do it, it's just that females who do what you want to do are statistical outliers. My wife is hotter than your wife.
