I was in a newspaper printing facility yesterday, you would not beleive the hndreds of pallets of advertisments for the sales this weekend, i couldn't help but think about how many trees were destroyed, etc. to print that stuff

this plus the stuff you mentioned can "turn you off" to the holidays

I echo the Amen, Sister!!!

While I do my best to acquire the holiday spirit before January 15, that's usually about when it shows up...and that's a little late for the rest of the world's liking. However, there's no reason to start Christmas in October...puts waaaaaaay too much pressure on me.

I was thinking the same thing when they started putting up Christmas decorations in the stores right next to the Halloween costumes.

Try working in a chain supermarket around the holidays, with brain washing music pumped in from the mothership.

The day after halloween the X-mas music would start, really really bad x-mas music. Like Janet Jackson on acid doing her own rendition of Silver Bells.
