peckerhead 0 #26 February 27, 2007 Hmmmm? I have no problem stalling my Hornet with just the toggles. Sounds like your brake lines might be a tad too long. It stalls super quick with the rear risers. Also mine doesn't buck when pulling down the front risers. Sounds like you have a trim problem.
MagicGuy 0 #27 February 27, 2007 I can easily stall the 135 on toggles alone, as well. Not even in full flare, but very close to it.
Squeak 17 #28 February 28, 2007 I had no problems stalling my Hornet 150 when i had itYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
DougH 270 #29 February 28, 2007 The 210 jumped from AFF 1, till about jump 20 stalled just fine on toggles. It also spun up real nice when I let the toggles back up unevenly. steve1 5 #30 February 28, 2007 The newer hornets all have the larger sliders. So does mine. I think one reason for my hard openings, when I first got this canopy, was because my bag was also one size too small. I wasn't doing a very neat job of stuffing all that material in there. When I started psycho packing it just made it easier (for me) to get it all crammed in there. And yes, I did have some slammer openings, prior to changing my packing methods. I'm not saying this packing methor is better than any other, but I just find it easier to pack....Steve1

phoenixlpr 0 #34 February 28, 2007 I can not stall my Pilot or Cobalt either in full brakes ....
DougH 270 #35 February 28, 2007 I find that really strange? Do you have standard riser lengths, or lengthened brake lines? I have been able to stall every canopy I have flown. Some just took longer in max toggle to stall."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
AllisonH 0 #36 February 28, 2007 I have 20 inch risers and my arms aren't very long, can barely reach my slider - have never been able to stall any canopy I've flown (ranging from a few 150s to 288s) with the toggles. I do know that the brake lines on my current canopy were lengthened slightly by the previous owner, but I liked the way it flew so I never changed them back. I have soft landing with both, so its a win-win.
DougH 270 #38 February 28, 2007 If it flares right I wouldn't complaign either. I won't lie though, I really get a kick out of stalling the canopy up high and riding that stall for a while. sa_airborne 0 #39 September 16, 2007 QuoteQuoteI had heard that the hornet was the predecessor to the Pilot. PISA made the Hornet. When Aerodyne started up, The Pilot was made in the former PISA Factory in South Africa. I do know the Pilot and the Hornet do have some similar features such as Colored Packing tabs and Line Connectors. I am not sure if they have any other similarities other than that. I had Hornet 170 for my first canopy. never had a slammer with it but the line kit was out of trim. I tried to get a new line set from PISA and found out they had just been bought by aerodyne. called aerodyne for a new line set and after sending my hornet back to them they called me back to offer me 40% off or so on a new canopy if they can keep the hornet. I think for a while Aerodyne was producing in SA but ownership of Aerodyne has tragically changed since then and I think the SA factory is now doing military stuff. please correct me if I am wrong!. Aerodyne still have a small factory in South Africa, working primarily on R & D projects. PISA are producing only military gear, both static line and free-fall, but unfortunately no longer produce the Hornet. The Hornet is technically 'semi-eliptical' while the 'Heatwave' was their fully eliptical canopy. Hope this helps!
