unlucky1 0 #1 November 24, 2006 2 days ago I woke up to find 2 moose in the back yard. One of them must've had a craving for dog piss. I captured on video (not very good quality), a moose licking a mound of snow, that my dogs use to piss on. He licked this piss mound for several minutes. Any clue why? Any wildlife biologist types out there???? Johnny http://s104.photobucket.com/albums/m200/skydiver_99654/?action=view¤t=MOV00005.flv

Maybe dog piss is salty? I have never tasted it so I cannot say for sure, any volunteers out there? Cheers, Vale
rs2kmk5 0 #7 November 24, 2006 There are some cracking photo's in your gallery there - you sure your not a pro photographer? Would love to live somewhere with that amount of wildlife - the bald eagle looked impressive and the big bear yikes lol Out of 10,000 feet of fall, always remember that the last half inch hurts the most — Captain Charles W. unlucky1 0 #8 November 24, 2006 Thanks for the compliment. Nope not a photographer. As a matter of fact, all those were taken with a 4.0MP Kodak. The thing about Alaska is that every photo taken looks professionally done. This is an outdoorsperson/photographers/hunters paradise! Come for a visit! Now that I think about it, maybe they were using the piss mound as some sort of saltlick. Johnny
SpeedRacer 1 #9 November 24, 2006 Many herbivores have trouble getting enough salt in their diet, and will go after it whereever they can find it. A friend of my Dad's in Pennsylvania had a hunting cabin up in the mountains, with an outhouse behind it. Over time the porcupines chewed up the wood on the back wall of the outhouse where the pee was hitting it.
