Jumping thru clouds

OK, this will probably sound like a very odd request, but I'm looking for an article about a jump that happened possibly 20 yrs ago. It is in regards to a pair of (german, if I remember correctly) skydivers that jumped out at 10k, passed thru a cumulusnimbus cloud, got caught inside the cloud by updrafts and currents, and froze over, crashing to the ground minutes later covered in ice. I know it's a morbid request, but it came up in my aviation weather class today, and I can't recall where I read it, who wrote it, or any of that stuff. If anyone has heard of such an accident occuring, or would be able to refer to me a place where I would be able to further research it, I would greatly appreciate it. Thx much

I think some clouds could rip a plane to shreads. Hail covered skydivers? Not too impossible is it?

I think it may have happened to a glider pilot or two, they used to intentionally fly into massive cu-nims to break altitude records and occasionally their gliders would disintegrate from the turbulence / lightning strikes.

I seem to recall a story connected to a fast jet pilot who ejected near one as well. Can't link to any though, and haven't heard about actual skydivers getting caught in Cu-nims either.

That was me and....Jennifer Anniston...Yeah..we were in Deland and it was snowing..I mean...raining...and we jumped out of a C130...she was naked and I was doing naked video..yeah that's it...I was shooting video for....Playboy and then the hail came and we had to cut away...and my reserve handle broke and....she grab me in a Mr. Bill...and we were in freefall all naked, sweaty and covered in ice and then it melted and we landed in the peas...yeah that's the ticket.

That pilot later wrote a book about the experience, it was called "The Man Who Jumped Thunder." I read it when I was about 8 years old.
He ejected and his parachute opened at about 10 grand. He was under canopy for about 25 to 40 minutes, went up and down in updrafts/downdrafts, iced up several times, was injured by hail and suffered frostbite before finally landing. He recovered and returned to flight status.

As to the original poster: Never heard of that story. If it was under canopy its plausable, if it was in freefall its pretty much impossible.

I read about that in Ripleys Great disasters (not sure how a couple of guys qualified as a great disaster). I am pretty sure it was more than 20 years ago. I think it was as far back as the 50's but i could be wrong. do a google of ripleys.

My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.
