somethinelse 0 #1 February 17, 2007 Been looking to get my first gear used and fairly affordable gear, so I've been looking at the classidieds here. When I see stuff I'm seriously interested in HOW do I possibly have it checked out for safety and appropriateness for ME before any money and shipping gets involved? I want to get going on this, but it makes me really edgy and nervous not knowing how to go about it all. Thanx - LiLa.

Organise to get the seller to send it to your local rigger for inspection, if the rigger is all good with it, send off the money, when the seller gets the money he can tell the rigger to release the gear to you If the gear is not up to scratch it will only cost you postage back to the sellerYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
FlyinseivLP2 0 #3 February 17, 2007 Talk to your instructors and find out what you should be looking for. Also talk to someone(preferably a rigger) that is willing to help you out when you think you find something. Get the seller to send pics and any info on the gear ie...DOM, #of jumps, size, condition of gear and any repairs or mods that may have been done to the gear. Then bring this info and pics to said rigger. If you guys decide this might be what you want THEN have seller send the gear to the rigger. He inspects it and you see if you like, it fits, ect. If so you send money to seller and the rigger hold on to the gear until seller calls and says the money has been received. If the gear is not what you want then all you pay is shipping. somethinelse 0 #4 February 17, 2007 Thanx Squeak. I'll email my DZs STO - Rigger and see if he'd be cool with that. Blues LiLa.
somethinelse 0 #5 February 17, 2007 Yeah, I've emailed my DZs STO/Rigger and asked if he'd inspect this possible rig for me, and am waiting for his response before I'll make any arrangements.\I've been on hold with getting much air time due to renting now for too long, So I've had lots of conversations about what I SHOULD be getting and what I COULD use etc. Anxious to move on ya know? But from a small DZ, not many folks I can call on to help me, and ones I really trusted have moved on- this community can be really nomadic ya know?! So, all this is rather unnerving. Hope I can make it happen for myself and get so much more air time with my own gear this year verses what I have been able to do with just renting CYA. LiLa.
