darklow 0 #1 February 15, 2007 Alti-2 Neptune has possibility to turn on two modes same time (each with three different altitudes - signals), one for canopy opening time and another one for landing altitudes (swooping). Because Neptune is quite thick, and pushes my ear, i am looking for another audible, thinner one. Does anyone know does L&B Solo has such two modes - one for opening, another for landing or it can have only one mode? What about L&B Optima? What are alternatives audibles with such landing mode also, besides Neptune. I'm not sure what you mean about modes, I have a Solo and I set it to three altitudes. The alarm goes off at these altitudes regardless of if I am in freefall or under canopy. Edited to add that it is very thin and I have it mounted in a ProTec."I'm not lost. I don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense in being late." peckerhead 0 #4 February 15, 2007 Sounds like a snooze alarm. Beep!= Pay attention! Beep Beep! = really pay attention Beep Beep Beep= Pay super duper attention! No thanks! Andrewwhyte 1 #5 February 15, 2007 The solo does not have canopy alarms. The L&B product you want is the Optima. I bought one recently and am very happy with it. It is very slim and should have no trouble fitting in your helmet. Be very careful putting it next to your ear, however, as it is very, very loud at the factory setting. fonz 0 #6 February 15, 2007 QuoteI'm not sure what you mean about modes, There are two kinds of alarms: 1. Alarms that go off in freefall. Typically set to seperation, opening and harddeck altitude. As seen on the Pro-Track, (Pro-)Dytter, Time-Out!!! and Skytronic FX for example. 2. Alarms that go off under canopy. Typically used by swoopers. I wouldn't know exactly how it works. This seems to be a recent development, seen on the Optima and Neptune for example. According to another poster, the Solo sort of falls in between and sounds three alarms regardless of whether the jumper is in freefall or under canopy. Anyway, what I think that the OP is asking is whether the Optima, which has both types of alarm, can sound both types of alarm on the same jump or if you need to choose between the two kinds of alarm when you set the device. I think the former is the case, but to be sure, just check out Larsen & Brusgaard's site. jurgencamps 0 #7 February 15, 2007 Quote... the Optima, which has both types of alarm, can sound both types of alarm on the same jump ... this is the correct answer. You have one set of alarms in freefall and one set of alarms under an open canopy.

jbanning 0 #9 February 16, 2007 I have the new Skytronics GFX, it is very thin, it also has the dual alarm settings, I use the canopy settings to remind myself to set up for landing approach. It also has the computer like the protrack or solo.
