bertusgeert 1 #1 December 10, 2006 I was walking through Central Park in August when a downpour hit. I ran to a shelter where there were a bunch of people, including two young people from Romania and France. In our conversation I found out this guy is a badass cook in a pretty cool restaurant in Paris. This restaurant has a basement, created when they excavated the rock for the foundation of the Statue of Liberty. Anyone have ANY idea where this restaurant is?! (I lost the address Matthieu gave me, but I still want a free meal in Paris in two weeks!) --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei! AggieDave 6 #2 December 10, 2006 Are you sure? The foundation for the Statue of Liberty was built upon the old Fort Wood that had been on that island. The pedistal was from granite dug from Leete's Island, Conn. You sure the guy wasn't full of shit?--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #3 December 10, 2006 If you don't believe me I'm willing to bet the NPC probably has that information on the 'net somewhere.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
piisfish 140 #4 December 10, 2006 they also have a Statue in Paris.. But I doubt there is a restaurant there...scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
bertusgeert 1 #5 December 10, 2006 hhhmmmm yeah i have been reading and reading and it seems you are correct. They constructed the statue in France and then disassembled it again for shipment. Maybe there are two bases? Can't find anything on his version of the story. I don't see why he would have bs'd though. Oh well, i'll ask around Paris, if it is the case I am sure it would be at least somewhat known in Paris. --------------------------------------------- As jy dom is moet jy bloei! It's a 1/4 replica of our statue of liberty. If you're going to france then anyway, one of the river seine boat tour guides might know all about the statue. Also, if the restaurant itself is that tasty and interesting, I'd bet it would be listed in the Rick Steves "Through the Back Door" guide to France or Paris. Might be best to start there, because those guidebooks are fabulous for travel anyway.
