Anyone used JHymn?

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I've recently started downloading music through iTunes, and was liking it great until I found out that all files are "protected" and only iTunes can play them, which means I can't convert them and use them in skydiving vids... I found a program with Google called "JHymn (http://hymn-project.org) that will effectively "un-protect" the file and copy it to a different location. So I tried it, and it gave me an error message that said something about how it couldn't totally read the file, and it wanted me to input my iTunes username and password to get the rest of the info it needed from the server. My issue is obviously that I could just be giving me p/w and username to the guy who wrote this thing so that he can download music on my credit card. I'd just like to know if anytone else has used this and uif it's legit. Thanks in advance, EFS!!

I had to ask someone, so this is 2nd hand info...

She didn't know JHymn, but uses http://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html. This can apparently convert directly from MP4 to MP3.
If that doesn't work you could use http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/ or http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm
These last two can't convert directly, so what you do is burn your songs from iTunes to CD. Then grab the audio from that .cda file.

And now I'm off to the DZ, see if I there is some holes in the clouds [:/]

Yeah, the problem isn't converting them, I have a program for that, it's just that iTunes encrypts them so that only iTunes can play them, and only ever on 5 computers. You can get around it by burning to a CD and then ripping it, but that seems pretty arduous to me.
