If yes, then yes Carbon Dioxide can be a killer. A few weeks back when we froze here in the Great White frigid north with -40 degree windchills, there were a number of deaths from people running portable heaters in not properly ventilated homes and/or trailers. It may not be pleasant, but sometimes it's better to wear more clothes and extra blankets instead of running that portable heater. Take care all my friends in the PAC-NW from BC down to Oregon. I'll be thinking of you (and yes I'm glad I wasn't in BC during this last nasty storm). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

If there's too much carbon dioxide (CO2) in an area you know it instantly - you'll start panting like crazy and it will be very clear that you have to get out of there. (It's the same sensation you get when you breathe into a plastic bag for a while.) Carbon monoxide - CO - is a bigger problem, because you don't feel it coming on, and it will kill you pretty quickly. It replaces the oxygen in your hemoglobin and binds a lot more tightly than oxygen, so even if you pull someone out of an area that's full of CO, they don't recover right away. CO is often a problem with poorly designed space heaters, generators and lanterns. Better space heaters produce only CO2 and water; these are the ones that can be used indoors without venting. freeflir29 0 #29 December 17, 2006 QuoteI like to guess which service the pilot learned his craft in.. by the way he lands.. Navy or Air Force...just based on the landing. Hehehehehee..................that's hilarious. Back when I used to fly for a living I picked out quite a few Navy guys by their "Power off at the last second......Slam it on the deck" landing style.
