Holy crap, my dad is playing Zelda on my Nintendo Wii

This is like watching a monkey use tools for the first time. He keeps making this face:

:o followed by :| when he dies

:D:D

Nintendo hit the jackpot with these things. I'm gonna have to have him try the sports pack, watch him play tennis and stuff

OK, so I know its a games consul but what makes it so special? Also I have heard about it jumping out of peoples hands and breaking windows and things, what the hell is all that about???

I want a Wii so baddddd but not paying what they are going for, Ill wait a year or two.

Out of the three systems, that is the price that bothers you? ;)

That is a pretty decent price in my opinion. I want one. And will buy one when I find it. :)
Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

The controller is motion sensitive. So when you play a First person shooter, you can aim by moving your hand around. Like a gun.

Need to swing a tennis racket in a game? Swing the controller.

Como se huh?! The Wii is fantastically priced considering the competition, what it does, and what it comes with.

If I could find a PS3 I would buy it and I am sure a lot of other people are thinking the same way. Right now it is too much of a hassle to try to get it. A few weekends ago I was able to pick up a Wii. As an avid gamer (mostly PC and use to be with PS2 before it stop working), to which I use to play 2 games competitively (Unreal Tournament 2004, Day of Defeat 2), I thought wii was going to be nothing but gimmicky. I am use to having a keyboard (to which I had every key at my finger tips for keybinds etc...) and a mouse for controls so when I first looked at the remote I laughed at it's similicity.

As it turns out the Wii is a lot of fun. The sports package it comes with lacks in the graphics department but more then makes up for it in the fun factor. You can use 1 remote for up to 4 players (obviously you can't all play at one time) with games like bowling (which I think is the best), golf, boxing, baseball, and tennis. I also picked up Call of duty 2. The controls for this game have a bit of a learning curve but once you start getting use to it you start to immerse yourself into the game. After a while you start to find yourself learning to one side to peak from beside a rock and ducking for cover.

I spent most of last Sunday looking for a second Wii remote which took me almost 7 stores to find but did manage to get one (I am sure they will be easier to get once xmas is over). It also surprised me to find out that Wii is completely backwards compatiable with Gamecube. Not only can it play it's games (which is really cool since they might be cheaper to get now) but you can use the memory cards and controllers with the wii (not to mention Nintendo DS too). You can also download older SNES and Nintendo games.

The Wii also immerse you with it's other features besides it's gaming capability. You create what's called a Mii which is basically a 3-D character of yourself to which you can use to talk to other people who are using the Wii. The Wii also has a forcast channel, a news channel, and you can also surf the internet from it (mind you the Wii is wireless). You can even take pictures of your SD memroy card and have some editing fun with the Wii.

I honestly think that Nintendo hit on something with the Wii and apparently from that article a lot of other people agree. The Wii is just fun. It gets even better with the more people you add. My title collection isn't that big but that will change in the upcoming weeks to which I will be able to provide a better view on the Wii remote and gameplay. The graphics aren't ground breaking but the Wii makes up for it every where else (as long as you don't get too frustrated with the remote at first). For $250 I didn't seem to mind the lack of blueray technology or anything else. Compared to PS3 ($599.99, to which I will get) and Xbox 360 ($399.99, no desire to get) I think you are really getting a deal with the Wii (not to mention it's only the size of a portable hard drive). Don't knock it until you try it.

Also last night I became part of the Wii Destruction. On a heated tennis match I was able to do this while serving the ball to my ceiling fan. The Wii remote survived without a single scatch:

Yesterday I saw 3 different stores that still had them

I paid 60 bucks for my nintendo 64 and that came with 2 controllers and 3 games

The 64 came out in '96. It cost 199 at launch.

The Wii comes with Wii sports. It also allows the download of old Nintendo games (for a fee) and backwards compatibility for gamecube. It cost 250. I think it is a sound deal.

What's scary is that N64 games were $80-100US when they were new. THank Xenu we've moved to cheaper storage media for games.

My parents quit trying to play my video games after failing miserably at the original Nintendo. Ironically, my mom would probably do very well with the Wii since her main problem was that she kept moving the controller where she wanted Mario to go and got really frustrated when he didn't go there. That little tidbit of entertainment alone was worth the price of the console. :D

Tell me about it - we had a Wii-mas party here at work with a bunch of Wiis set up in a conference room, some pizza, cervesa, and what-not. 3 of Front End guys and I tried out the bowling, then the tennis, and it was a riot.

We had 50 Wiis in the company store and they were gone pretty quickly after the Wii-mas. I managed to snag the 7th to last one.

Nintendo likes to innovate, that is for sure - I can't wait to see what some of the First Party titles are going to be like. :)
