skybytch 273 #1 December 19, 2006 If you were going to download a program (game) off Limewire, which file type would you download (zip, exe, rar, cue)? How would you go about installing a non-exe? I know how to unzip a zip file and I know how to burn a cue file but I've never heard of an rar file.
AggieDave 6 #2 December 19, 2006 rar/tar is another type of compression. If you google around you'll find programs that will take care of it. I would highly recommend that you do some intense scanning for viruses, spyware and malware if you get anything from Limewire, its even worst then Bit Torent for that crap.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." chaoskitty 0 #3 December 19, 2006 If you grab the zip file, it should have an exe file when you unzip it.. and then install it from there. More than likely, all of those other file extentions are included in the zip file and you'll need them all. Thats all I can say without looking at it. bazelos 0 #4 December 19, 2006 You don't need to burn an iso/cue/etc, just use deamon tools to emulate a cd/dvdHe who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man.
Thanatos340 1 #5 December 19, 2006 Zip will probably be the easiest to deal with. Many arguments over why Rar is better than zip but the bottom line is most everyone already has winzip and somewhat understands it. I would hesitate to download any Exe from a file sharing network. jceman 1 #8 December 19, 2006 Lisa, You got some good answers here, but no one mentioned that the latest version of WinZip (11.0) handles .rar files just hunky-dory. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
