Less traveled but worthwhile places to go?

(I am aware of the usual, so this is an attempt to find the out of the way worthwhile places.)

My first suggestion.............avoid Paris. Next......put Budapest in it's place. Done and done. Prague is OK but VERY touristy these days. The Czechs will tell you Budapest is MUCH better. Also throw in coastal Croatia. Beautiful!

Me and my SO are in Paris 12/31 to 5/1

The Champs Elyssee on NYE is worthwhile if you like hundreds of thousands of people to see the new year in with you.

Last time we were there (3 years ago), we just headed off to a small restaurant and sank a bottle of champagne afterwards...
