Anvilbrother 0 #1 January 28, 2007 Ok since my last post looked like a want add and was removed I will rephrase this. I have a 26 foot lopo and want a military style old single parachute container such as the one in the pic attached. Can anyone give me the NAMES or TYPES that it will fit into,or any information about the one in the pic. Thanks Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone. Amazon 7 #2 January 28, 2007 IT should fit into almost any kind of older surplus rig like that... I have 26' LO PO's in a couple Wonderhogs circa 1978 and 1980 as well as one in a belly wart that would fit on a rig like that (IF it has D rings to attach a reserve to). I take it you want to use it as a main??? Practice your PLFS.. I have two landings under them
Anvilbrother 0 #3 January 28, 2007 No I dont want to jump it. Just want to stuff it into an old military rig like the one pictured. I just need some info about military rigs that it would fit into. Amazon 7 #4 January 29, 2007 Most of the rigs like that contained a C-9 in the USAF.. or a 26' Navy conical which was larger and more pack volume.... it will fit in any of them that I ever packed.

councilman24 37 #6 January 29, 2007 A 26' LoPo will be too SMALL for almost every military container. Chest mount reserves were built for 24' flat T-10s. In order to put 26' lopos in them I saw one DZO put a piece of foam backed Indoor/Outdoor carpet around the inside to fill up the container. The container you have a picture of is a looks like a B-4 or B12 A.F. back. Again, any of the military containers will be oversized for it. These were made for 28' C-9 type canopies. But, why do you want to stuff it in a military container if you don't want to jump it? Can't figure out any other GOOD reason to put a canopy in a container. Stuff it with pillow if you just want the container to be full. If your trying to put it together to sell to some unsuspecting pilot, that's not a good idea. I certainly wouldn't consider the combination airworthy and I doubt most riggers would.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
Anvilbrother 0 #7 January 29, 2007 I do have a spring loaded PC from a MT1-XX that I want to install onto the Apex of the round that will be packed into it also. That should eat up some of the pack volume too right. I just want one to play around with. To wear at holloween parties, and on windy days to sled with in the fields. councilman24 37 #8 January 29, 2007 ALL of these containers use a spring loaded pilot chute. That's already part of the equation. As I said, don't waste a canopy in a prop. Fill it with whatever, put the 26 lopo on risers and JUMP IT! I have a 26' Crossbow lopo and a 28' Phantom on risers that I loan to people to jump. I can jump the Phantom (last time about three years ago) but I'm too fat these days to jump the lopo.I'm old for my age. sprtdth 0 #12 January 29, 2007 QuoteCan anyone give me the NAMES or TYPES that it will fit into,or any information about the one in the pic. The H/C shown appears to be a B-12, far too large for a 26' LoPo. You'll need a NB-6 with an A-3 pilot chute. Then find a master rigger to sew some D rings on the front, a chest mount reserve (without a pilot chute) and you'll be stylin'....just like the '60'sCRW Skies Frank CRW Diva #

councilman24 37 #14 January 29, 2007 I learned a long long time ago not to jump something for a "water jump" that you don't want to land on land. I watched a whole Beech 18 load miss a 500 acre lake in swimsuits and bare feet! I'VE never missed the lake. Nobody wants to jump gear that they're willing to take in the water anymore. Hmmm I'll have to work on that this year. But not the LOPO!I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
councilman24 37 #15 January 29, 2007 Can you put it in? Will it look like shit? Will it NOT be jumpable? Sure. Actually it might look alright but none of us know what the hell that rig is. Unstable 9 #16 January 29, 2007 We cleaned out our Dz a few days ago - And being a packrat I saved a lot of bits and pieces from old military Rigs - I have a bellywart, a few Ripcords, and a Pioneer pilot chute used in a 1958 navy seat. Give me a PM in you are interested - Edited to Add - Not selling here - it's junk in my book - if you want it, it's yours.=========Shaun ==========

Amazon 7 #18 January 29, 2007 It looks Chinesse.. and that 4 point connector looks severly scary... There are plenty of kewl old surplus rigs out there... just wait.. its winter.. more will come along...
riggerrob 643 #19 January 31, 2007 If you want to pack it as a pilot emergency parachute, both Para-Phernalia and Butler make excellent containers. If you want to sled across a snowy field, start with a Para-Commander canopy, then read a book on Para-Sailing or Par-Ascending, then pay up your medical insurance. Hee! Hee! Anvilbrother 0 #20 January 31, 2007 We have been using it to sled across a wide open field with it tied to a backboard for 2 years. We have a piece of suspension line tied to the apex of the canopy so when you want to slow down or stop your reel it in, and it inverts the canopy lol Postes r made from an iPad or iPhone.
