iluvtofly 0 #1 December 24, 2006 To all those out there like myself who are stuck at their in-laws this weekend...I feel your pain. Being stuck in a house with people that I can't stand to be around for more than 1 hour for a total of 3 days is the deffinition of hell. So if anyone has stories of ways that their in-laws have annoyed you or pissed you off feel free to tell them here.

Just smile and get through it with the person you chose to spend your life with. Family and all. Merry ho ho everyone! 'Shell'Shell
jimmytavino 16 #4 December 24, 2006 I had to commit grand larceny of a motor vehicle years ago, because of my "dear" sister-in-law. We ( the whole Fam Damily ) were in the Adirondack mountains,, on vacation... Sis "knew where all the black Bears congregated" at sundown,,, so SHE would drive Our minivan with about 10 people packed inside, to go see them..It was just getting dark, I was sitting in the very rear bench seat, and noted all the No trespassing signs, as we drove along an old sandy strip of road...and into the woods... "not to worry " she called out... Well within a couple of minutes,,, she is shifting the van from forward to reverse, and forward to reverse, and gunning the accelerator and we are GOING Nowhere... I'm thinking,,, Oh no. did the tranny just crap out???.. It felt like we were stuck in snow, but it was mid summer.... We open the sliding door and the floor of the van is 3 inches off the ground... She had tried to turn around and got stuck DEEP,, in a sand bed, adjacent to the road.. I mean stuck!!!. sittin on the rear end pumpkin...The guys tried to push it out,, No Joy..the older kids started scaring the little kids by saying, "NOW the Bears are gonna GET US".. the llittle ones were crying the older ones were laughing, the women were fretting, and I was wondering just How FAR my triple A service would go.... Well I see some lights off in a distance and head for them on foot. Turns out that there is a State D O T yard just across the road from where I break out of the woods.. I saw a light on inside so I went and pounded on the door,,,, No Answer.. I look around and see 3 or 4 trucks parked in the yard...and think to myself,,, "Now that's what I need..." I go over to a rusty old 4 x4 pickup and the Door is unlocked!!!! I open it and the Keys are sitting on the front seat...!!! Say no more..... Uncle Jim to the rescue....I then look around in some toolboxes on a dumptruck, and see and steal a 16 foot towing strap... back to the pick-up... I start that BadBoy Up, and 30 seconds later I am across the road, and I am tearing down a wire fence to get into the woods... I couldn't get it out of LOW range and so I'm revving the hell outta the engine and still stuck in like 2nd gear, and going MAYBE 7 miles an hour..... anyway.. I come bouncing through the woods to the cheers of the little kids, and my wife and her sister are Freaking out, cause I stole this truck...( from a government agency, no less !! ) we managed to get under the front of the van and hooked up to it. We dragged the van outta the sand with the 4x4 ,,, the kids piled in ,,, I got ready to return the truck, and SHE gets stuck,,, AGAIN...hahahah Re connect, yank her out,,,back on the road... Anyway, I return through some fields to the D O T building while the family drives out the way we went in,,,,(trespassing on someones private property).... I get across the road, leave the truck roughly where I found it, return the webbing strap to its toolbox... drop the keys on the front seat, Alll under the glaring lights of the maintenance yard,,, and start to get the hell outta there... I no sooner hit the road,,, and "start making like a hiker", when the van rounds the corner, the door slides open, and without slowing down much,, ( think Little Miss Sunshine) I run and jump into the moving vehicle and we're off... FIVE seconds later a local police car drives by and pulls into the lighted yard,,, while we are all laughing and waving at him, from the van... Got away clean and with a good story to tell, never saw any bears though... and in the future.... I drove..........hahahahah we'll be joining that DEAR sister-in -Law and the entire In-Law Family tonight for Christmas Eve, as she hosts each year... Hopefully there will be very little driving involved and we'll all steer clear of any felony level offenses.. Ah yes... "for Better or Worse", and pass the eggnog!!!! happy holidays to all .... peace on earth JIMMY
 SpeedRacer 1 #5 December 24, 2006 Great story! Dad (father-in-law) passed away several years ago and Mom (mother-in-law) is in a nursing home. Would love to be able to be stuck at their house for Christmas - some great memories there. Enjoy your extended families while they are still around to enjoy. Merry Christmas to all. I intend to live forever -- so far, so good.
