SkydiveStMarys 0 #1 December 28, 2006 My oldest son got the 2007 version. I was thumbing through it. I loved that book as a kid and all the oddities that were brought to life. As I was looking through it, I saw a "record" for Banzai (spelling is correct) skydiving. Basically they throw the parachute out of the airplane, you jump after it and strap it on and hope to God the chute opens. The record for doing this is 50 seconds. Has anyone every heard of this? The record is held by a guy from Japan. He made the jump over Davis California. Man, as some one that once was a DZO, I would have an issue with this. Would you attempt this? There was only one other skydive related feat entered and that was for the largest freefall formation oer Thailand. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. Skysurfer_Rob 0 #3 December 28, 2006 There seems to be a lot of sky for something like that to get lost in...I wonder what goes through the guys mind if/when he does loose sight of it. "Shit...and I can't see any blackberry bushes from this height." or "I wonder if they will throw out another?" Good luck to whoever tries it next."Though I Fly Through the Valley of Death, I Shall Fear No Evil...For I am at 80,000 Feet and Climbing." dontiego 0 #5 December 28, 2006 I've heard of that, but I thought that they were competing on the lowest exit altitude."We call on the common man to rise up in revolt against this evil of typographical ignorance." http://bancomicsans.com
SkydiveStMarys 0 #6 December 28, 2006 10,000 ft Why the lowest? I would want as much altitude as possible!!!! BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
dontiego 0 #7 December 28, 2006 Quote10,000 ft Why the lowest? I would want as much altitude as possible!!!! Bobbi The one that manages to do a banzai jump from 3000ft wins over the one who did from 4000ft. The record would be "The man that did a banzai jump from the lowest altitude". But if you read 10,000, then I was wrong."We call on the common man to rise up in revolt against this evil of typographical ignorance." http://bancomicsans.com

LouDiamond 1 #10 December 28, 2006 I believe it has been done a couple of times for Hollywood in different flicks. I know something very similar was recently done for a Balliwood movie called DON by our very own DZ.commer, Greg Gasson, who is actually one of the bad guys in the film."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
SkydiveStMarys 0 #11 December 28, 2006 Yeah, you know I was kinda surprised too. There were only two in there like I had mentioned earlier. Not sure when the book went to press, but it is listed as the 2007 version. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
