MP3 player help

Recommended Posts

I know the poll was recently put out, but there were limited microsoft user replies and I have limited my choices to two mp3's.

Apple or Microsoft?

Have at it all. I'm going to the store to buy one tomorrow so the more info/help the better.

Well I can tell you I dig my Zune. I had no interest in an Ipod. My Wife has had several of them and now has the 80g one. The Screen and Picture Quality of the zune along with ease of use Kicks the Ipods ASS but then again I never wanted an IPOD or any other MP3 player until I saw a Video playing on the ZUNE. Bought it on the spot just because of that :)

I wouldn't do anything until after Steve Jobs' keynote at MacWorld San Francisco on Tuesday January 9th....just in case he has some new iPod goodies hidden in the sleeve of his black turtleneck. I don't think anything new in the iPod line is expected but you never know...he's surprised the world many times before.

I haven't seen a Zune in the flesh so don't know how it compares function wise to the iPods but I'll tell you one thing about it that would make me hesitate right off the bat....it is larger than the hard drive iPods. I have a 4 year old 2nd gen iPod and it feels like a brick compared to the new ones which are very nice and small. So, just the extra size would put me off.

Our family also has a Nano and two 2nd gen Shuffles....and I have to say that the smaller the better is my preference. The little Shuffles are so handy to clip on your clothing. I'd say that unless you want tons of storage space or must be able to watch videos consider a Nano or Shuffle.

I agree with the iPod. Love it. But the only other mp3 player I've experienced is an MPIO and currently, it's not compatible with my Mac (despite the fact they "said" they were - apparently a firmware update is on it's way - yet to be seen [:/]).
