Therefore, it only needs to be taken once daily and controls the pain, not as addicting... My understaning it is better to have med released slowly to control pain- rather than take "when needed 3x daily?" I have experienced morphine epidural during cesarean section when too much was used... came up my body to my brain...[best high of my life] Whenever I've been given morphine intravenously for pain in the hospital after first 2 days was no longer effective- always have asked to switch to demerol in the butt- as at least would have longer period of pain control. For treatment of chronic pain I was prescribed oral hydromorphone extended release capsules and have used regularly for over a year period. Hydromorphone is less likely to cause addiction than other narcotics. All opioids have the potential to be misused or abused. However, when used appropriately to treat patients with chronic pain, long term therapy has not been associated with addiction or dependence. skydiverbry 0 #36 January 8, 2007 I have tried the MS Cotin. It worked for a bit than I was having more and more episodes of 'break through pain' which then required me to ues more and more Vicidan. The Fentanyl is like 80 time more powerful than moriphine and it to is slowy released via transdermal patch. What I hate the most is thre are minute personality changes,that other see and you don't.
