hjumper33 0 #1 January 16, 2007 Any of you riggers out there ever make someone/yourself a ground launching harness? If so, how much did you charge for it and what did it consist of?
packing_jarrett 0 #2 January 16, 2007 Just do it your self. Buy an old container. Cut the container off of it. Sew a stash bag on. Don't forget to take out the housings. But leave the cutaway housings in. I tacked down the reserve risers but I might just cut them off on my next harness. Well thats what I did anyways.Na' Cho' Cheese

skybeergodd 0 #4 January 16, 2007 I've made a couple....$250 is what I charged and It was made very similar to a regular containers harness. They really aren't that difficult. to build.
billvon 3,114 #5 January 16, 2007 I built one out of type-8 webbing and some of the lighter weight friction adapters. Worked OK, but I think if I did it again I'd use the forged friction adapters and put more padding on it.
JerryBaumchen 1,466 #6 January 16, 2007 Hi hjumper33, I know that Kelly at Velocity Sports Equipment makes some VERY fancy ground launch harnesses. You can contact them, just Google velocityrigs.com; or something like that. Jerry
monkycndo 0 #7 January 16, 2007 I've seen a couple of people take a POS harness and cut off the container, leaving just the harness. Works pretty well. Often tends to be cheaper then one custom built.50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
rhys 0 #8 January 17, 2007 Mirage makes ground launch harnesses. with a stuff sack etc. I think a sitting position is more comfortable that a regular harness but having said that i usually use an Old racer. the type without riser covers. the slider hides nicely under the reserve riser flaps."When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then the world will see peace." - 'Jimi' Hendrix

Martini 0 #10 January 18, 2007 I bought a used Racer in perfect shape that fits me great for $100. Then I tied down all the flaps and other useless stuff with pullup cords and attatched an old worthless daypack with pullup cords for a stuffsack. I still have the Racer reserve stuff and d-bag if I ever wanted to use the rig for skydiving again. Pretty? Not. Functional? You bet. And my invesment is still $100 and about an hour of work. I might add padding to the backpad for back protection but since I've only launched in the snow that can wait.Sometimes you eat the bear.............. hjumper33 0 #11 January 18, 2007 Thanks for all the suggestions. I just bought Vladi's off of the containers page as it was incredibly cheap for a super nice container, and I dont have to destroy or rebuild anything. Youre all welcome to look and tell me your opinion of the deal I got, i think the ad is still up.

I thought about buying it but a C-19 is just a little large for me. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
hjumper33 0 #13 January 19, 2007 Yah it pays to be tall and skinny. My only reservation on it is that with all those sponsors I just inherited, people will be really disappointed when I eat shit into a sand dune.
lilchief 1 #14 January 20, 2007 I bought a Vector 2 with a reserve for a 6 pack."Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been and there you long to return." - Da Vinci www.lilchief.no
