Mark24688m 0 #1 January 11, 2007 I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed yesterday :( They gave me sodium pentathol interveinously since I was having all 4 removed at once. And to make it worse they werent anywhere near coming through the gums on their own so they had to cut through the gums before removing them. The procedure was fine but my mouth hurts so bad now this damn oxycodine doesnt even make the pain go away. Its horrible. Any suggestions for the pain? willard 0 #3 January 11, 2007 There was a similar thread here a week ot two back concerning dry sockets. You may find some help there. Other than that all I can tell you is that it's gonna hurt for a couple days, but, like all things, this too will pass. Rinsing GENTLY with a warm salt water solution helps a little. Try not to dislodge the clots where the teeth used to be. These clots are needed for a fast recovery.
AggieDave 6 #4 January 11, 2007 If the pain is THAT bad...have you been smoking or dipping? You may have gotten a dry socket. I got two when I had mine out a while back. The pain was incredible, even the vicodin wouldn't take the edge off.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." SkydiveStMarys 0 #5 January 11, 2007 Since the Oxycodine isn't working, care to share?? I mean you obviously can't use it. Sorry to hear about your pain. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.

goofyjumper 0 #7 January 11, 2007 I am an x-surgery tech. When did you get them taken out? And how long after did you recieve such massive pain? If oxycodones don't work then you probably have an infection. You need to see your docotr (or dentist, DMD)----------------- I love and Miss you so much Honey! ryan_d_sucks 0 #8 January 12, 2007 Hey man, I had all 4 of mine out December 21st. I authored a thread on here about dry sockets as well... The best advice I can give you is, go back in time and choose not to have them removed. Haha.. Seriously. For me, the first few days were alright. I just took the painkillers regularly (until they weren't even fun anymore) and most importantly, the anti-inflammatory (gave the most relief). If your doc only gave you an analgesic painkiller, I would reccomend popping some NSAID like Ibuprofen (but talk to your doctor first). Anyway man, it might suck now, but if you get dry socket it will suck A LOT worse soon. It was the most intense pain I've ever felt. I usually awoke around 4-5 am (about the time all the drugs had worn off) in excruciating pain. It makes sense, because its an exposed nerve ending. Be careful not to 'swish' too hard with the salt water rinses, as that can remove the blood clot and give you one or more dry sockets. Also, don't do the stuff they said not to: smoke, drink booze (thins the blood causing the clot to dislodge), or puff your cheeks too hard. Man, its been 19 days, and I'm still fishing food out of my holes, and popping anti-inflammatorys. Some people have a real easy time with theirs, some don't. Trying your best to prevent any of the complications like dry socket is the best advice I could give. Good Luck. Ryan
