adventurechick 0 #1 January 12, 2007 So I'm getting a refund on an upcoming trip I was going to take in february and I decided I'm going to go to a city I've never been before. I may or may not jump pending on what type of weather is going on... and I'm looking at doing this for spring break. I'll probably stay in a hostel and need some ideas on where to go. I don't have a lot of money, but a place I can go to chill out, find some adventure, and jive with the locals.... and not be subject to tourist prices. Any ideas? Squeak 17 #2 January 12, 2007 if you haven't been, there go to San Fran and stay at the "Green Tortoise" Back pakckers SF is a cool place with loads to do in and around http://www.greentortoise.com/san-francisco-hostel/index.phpYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! AggieDave 6 #3 January 12, 2007 San Antonio is pretty cool, although it can be a bit touristy. Dallas is fun, so is Ft. Worth. Ft. Worth is actually a bit more fun. When you go, if you go to DFW and you have a rental car, go when Six Flags is open. A word of warning, Sd Dallas isn't close to Dallas, its in Whitewright.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." adventurechick 0 #4 January 12, 2007 I'm looking more for a hippie scene. I'm not old enough to rent a car... so a place that has good public transportation or mopeds for rent (even though my driving skills aren't exactly top notch). Anyone been to Ashville, north carolina. That sounds like a cool place. PMS #449 TPM #80 Muff Brother #3860 SCR #14705 Dirty Sanchez #

AggieDave 6 #6 January 12, 2007 That comment would lend me to believe you've never spent any real time in TX and are relying on stereotypes. That's fine. Hopefully some day you'll be able to visit and enjoy what TX has to offer. Its a very large state with literally a bit of everything for everybody.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." I went to skyfest, and I have a lot of family in texas. I used to spend a lot of time there growing up... and I wanted to experience a new state and city I've never been to. But if you can tell me of a cool event or cool chill spots, then I'll definitely add it to hat! Lindercles 0 #8 January 12, 2007 Way to steer away from mentioning Austin.
AggieDave 6 #9 January 12, 2007 Cool event? South by Southwest. Chilifest. The OU vs. t.u. game. The A&M vs. t.u. game. Dawgs on Hogs, the R.O.T. rally... The list could go on and on. Hey Linders, I didn't say "go to austin, that's where all the weirdos are..." Since Texas is out, I LOVE visiting Washington DC. I love going to the monuments, the buildings and I could spend a few weeks just in the Smithsonians.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." There public transportation rocks... but I was trying to go somewhere new. But seattle is awesome! d_squared431 0 #17 January 12, 2007 I if you want a ski vacation I can hook you up with ski passes for a resort here in Tahoe. I am not sure about hostles in the area but I do have a couch that folds out that you are more then welcome to. As far as transportation I drive by Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe every day and could drop you off. I work in Incline and there are ski shuttles that will take you to squaw, alpine, and diamond peak. If you have never been to Tahoe the views are amazing and the people are like now others you will meet. You can still hitch a ride with now worries any where on the north shore, the south shore is another world. So your ticket out would be the most expensive part everything else would basically be free. Let me know cause I have to call to get some tickets set up at least a 2-3 weeks a head...TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly

sharimcm 0 #24 January 12, 2007 You can always come to Austin and stay with me. I will sacrifice my king size bed for you (well, maybe for a couple of nights). I can take the top off my car and we can go cruising for a Leslie sighting tour, Enchanted Rock (hiking), Lake Travis or even Mt. Bonnell. BUT, since you don't want to come to Austin (there are a bunch of hippies here), good luck in your place of choice.
