Thanatos340 1 #6 January 9, 2007 Quoteit'll require you to use Iphone service. Cingular. Well atleast it wasn’t Spirnt. Then it would have been completely worthless. Have to wait till June and see how it all pans out. The devise looks good and is a logical marriage of technology. I am just afraid of what Apple will do to make sure you can only make calls "Their way". Also the usual iPod limitations will certainly apply. I wonder if you will have to use iTunes to update you telephone address book now too? Sprint and verizon will have to partner with other to remain competitive. I will be curious to see what offerings they have. Creative has been suspiciously NOT announcing any new Players at CES thus far. There has been some speculation that they were waiting for Apple to make their announcement before unveiling their new stuff. Time to play wait and see. I wonder if you will have to use iTunes to update you telephone address book now too? Yes iTunes is very much in use on this device. It's the interface to update everything. So the DRM and the basic Apple BS still apply. Still it's a groovy looking stylish phone/video/music player. With 8gs being the max it'll spend a lot of time interfacing with iTunes. I myself have been waiting along time for Apple to announce their next move in the iPod / iPhone dept. Never expected them to combine the devices. Good and not so good an idea. Tis why I've waited soooo long to decide what mp3 player to purchase. Now I seem to be waiting more. Apple will most likely release 5 variations of this phone over the next 5 years. It will not be worth it to be an early adopter when you can get a dozen cell phones that already have 3G broadband (I get XM radio on my phone right now, yes streaming via Cingular) and have access to MP3 music without having to use iTunes DRM services. I'm just not impressed by the Apple iPhone. I'm more impressed by the external 3d video card for laptops thou._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Then it is constant questions of why the phone was turned off... Why weren't you available... blah blah blah It is amazing how many people take offense to saying something like "I had my phone off for a little peace and quiet and did not want to be bothered." I'll bet there will be an EVDO version announced before the end of the year."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. Cingular now offers HSPDA/UMTS...which is truly a 3G network. and you are right EDGE/GSM blows chunks. BUT we have HSPDA/UMTS in our market here...and supposedly it is in 100+markets per cingular. Just an option. One problem is the expense involved is rather large for a 3G phone from Cingular. BUT I can NOT wait till this iPhone is released. SOOOO want one.
