BlueSkiesKel 0 #1 January 14, 2007 I got to come in 2 and 1/2 hrs late to work today bc a qualified reservist drilled today..yahoo! and j/k on the joke... reservists are awesome, they help us out a lot, definitely glad to have em! I used my extra time to clean, I now have a presentable apt,
 cocheese 0 #2 January 14, 2007 You got drilled by a reservist that made you 2 1/2 hours late? Gosh i'm sleepy.
 gonzalesna 1 #3 January 14, 2007 Marine reservists are a nuisance... They have the boot camp mentality well into their military career... they tend to be very moto (motivated) and talk a lot of crap... a lot of people who used to be buddies of mine are reservists. Their big mouth and enlarged ego ended our friendships. Calling me a shitbag (means very poor on regulations in all aspects) for not shaving the little bit of chest hair popping out of my shirt and not having a fresh shave. (Yes, I shaved that morning. Boot camp required me to shave twice a day to give you an idea of how fast I grow facial hair.) I'm active duty... I don't need a weekend warrior that makes a living washing cars at a dealership telling me how to be a Marine... especially one that's been in the military a year less. Just my personal opinions... and no it's not just that individual. Just an example. With the exception of a small few, reservists all tend to share the same issues and mindsets. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
 BlueSkiesKel 0 #6 January 14, 2007 Gonzo, I agree, a lot of reservists arent always helpful especially if they arent qualified and if they only come in once a month they've been out of the loop for so long they spend the whole time catchin up and then get no work done, luckily we have 1 reservist at my unit that is very helpful, we all fight over which wkd he works bc that means we get time off
 gonzalesna 1 #7 January 14, 2007 I was more referring to their attitudes outside of work. When I go on vacation, it's just that. A vacation. I don't need to be bombarded with questions about the fleet, their stories from their last drill weekend, or anything about military regulations. We, luckily, don't have any reservists, that I know of, on the base that I'm on. I live in 29 palms. (AKA 29 Stumps) But when I'm on vacation, I'll go in to say hey to the recruiters, and they're ALWAYS in there. Very annoying. I live in the military. Vacation is my time to get away from it. I don't want a bunch of reservists that think they're hard and salty because they've been to Iraq once talking shit to me. I hardly consider them military. The fact that they don't train often enough is one of the larger reasons we have so many casualties overseas, but that's a different beast.
