jkm2500 0 #1 January 14, 2007 http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/13/water.intox.ap/index.html How much water do you need to drink to kill yourself? I understand that it's tragic, but it's also comedic....The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise. FlyingJ 0 #5 January 14, 2007 It's called hyponatremia. Symptoms are pretty similar to heat exhaustion/stroke but the difference is what you are missing. You can be guzzling the water, but if you aren't keeping up your levels of salt, potassium, etc. you are in for a world of hurt. If you are treated appropriately for hyponatremia it is easily reversible, but the main problem is people suffering from this are usually treated as if they are dehydrated and given more water, which only makes them worse. Death certainly isn't commonplace, but is certainly more likely if the problem isn't recognized and treated accordingly. Talked about it in another thread: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2322821;search_string=hyponatremia;#2322821Killing threads since 2004. FlyingJ 0 #7 January 14, 2007 hehe...yeah right. do you know how much school that takes? i have suffered from this in the past and have had to treat half a dozen or so others for it. so few people recognize that it even exists that i always jump at the opportunity to hop up on my little soap box and hope that at least one or two people will remember that it exists the next time they think they are dehydrated!Killing threads since 2004. BillyVance 35 #8 January 15, 2007 It's true... you can die from drinking too much water in a certain time period."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
pash 0 #9 January 15, 2007 This is sad. She was trying to win a video game system for her kid(s). I thought since the introduction of exstacy into the "water drinking market" people understood that, yes, too much water is TOO MUCH. jasonn
popsjumper 2 #10 January 15, 2007 makes me wonder...scotch and water...50/50...which would kill you first...the water or the scotch? Should I just lay off the water? My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus.
